Denver is full of fun activities, whether you are flying in earlier in the week or just looking for a short hike on Sunday before an evening flight!
Here are some activities and places to go in or near Denver, featuring photos taken by none other than the happy couple (we wouldn’t take you to places we don’t love ourselves)!
Garden of the Gods is a beautiful park in Colorado Springs, located about an hour south of Denver. Jason and Alyson have taken their dogs (and guests) hiking there and highly recommend it. There are beautiful views and a variety of trails (both short and long) to check out. Be sure to bring your sunscreen and a hat, there is very little tree coverage in this area and the Colorado sun is quite hot!
The Denver Botanic Gardens is a great way to pass a couple of hours in Denver. They also have a cafe and a bistro located in the garden.
There are many of great hikes and trails just 30-45 minute drive from Denver. If you're up for a day trip, you can find some amazing mountain hikes with just a 1-2 hour drive. The website linked below, AllTrails, is a great resource to find hikes, see pictures of the area before you go, and get up to date reviews and comments on trail conditions. Here are some of our favorites !
Rocky Mountain National Park: Roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes from Denver, Rocky Mountain Nation Park, just outside the town of Estes Park, has some of the most beautiful hikes we've ever seen. A couple of our favorites are Gem Lake Trail and Lake Haiyaha Trail. If you plan to visit this park be sure to look into the park's timed entry/reservation system.
Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre: When they aren't holding concerts, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre and surrounding park are open to visitors to explore the historic venue and hike around the rock formations. Less than a 30-minute drive from our venue, this makes for a great morning or afternoon. Be sure to grab a bite to eat and a drink in the town of Morrison just outside the park after!
Devil's Head Fire Lookout: Not for people afraid of heights or stairs! Devil's Head Fire Lookout is located approximately 1 hour from Denver and the view from the top offer a phenomenal 360-degree panorama view of the entire front range!
Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge: This State Park is located just 30-minute from the wedding venue. Relatively flat and paved trails make for quick and easy hikes from Denver with lots of wildlife including various bird species and buffalo!
