The story of Alyssa & Matt begins in Nashville, Tennessee on January 26th, 2019. Alyssa, who was born and raised right outside of Nashville, was in the city getting drinks with her best friend, Laura, which had become a regular weekend occurrence. Matt, who had recently moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky to launch his sports journalism career, was also in the city for the night. After a recent hip surgery, he was staying in Nashville for a follow up visit with his surgeon the next morning.

Matt was having a quiet night in his hotel room after dropping his mom, Kathy, off at the airport to return to their hometown of Elm Grove, Wisconsin after a quick visit. Alyssa was enjoying the ever-interesting Nashville nightlife during a study break for her nursing boards, which she would take the following week. Little did they know, their life would soon be changed with the simple 'like' of a dating profile on an app called Hinge. On any other night, Alyssa and Matt would have been out of range on this app, due to living over an hour from each other. But on January 26th, the stars aligned.

They connected instantly, sharing interest in music, dogs and sports. Matt's friend Connor had introduced him to a band called Twenty One Pilots a few years prior. Those who know Alyssa know that this is her all time favorite band, so when Matt asked her favorite song of theirs and rattled off some album names, she was impressed to say the least. Their conversation continued effortlessly, and they haven't gone a day without talking since.

The story continues on February 10th, 2019. For their first date, Alyssa and Matt met back in the city where it began at Saint Anejo, a tex-mex restaurant in Nashville. The date started with nerves from both sides and little bit of apprehension, but quickly turned into hours of free-flowing conversation and laughter. Their connection was apparent from the start.

A little over 2 months later, Alyssa and Matt were getting ready to celebrate Alyssa's 24th birthday on April 20th, 2019. Just before the party guests arrived, Matt asked Alyssa to be his girlfriend and subsequently signed himself up for a night of fun with 20 of Alyssa's closest friends, most of whom he'd never met.

The rest of 2019 would be filled with some of their favorite memories:

A visit to Elm Grove for a wedding, where Alyssa met Matt's family and closest friends.

A roadtrip to Atlanta, Georgia to explore the city.

A quick vacation to Pensacola, Florida for relaxation.

A Tennessee football game in the sweltering Knoxville heat.

Lots of walks and 'zooms' with Bella.

With Matt's contract at the news station in Bowling Green was coming to an end in December 2019, he was motivated to continue progressing in his career when he heard about an opening in Omaha, Nebraska. When he got the job, the two decided they didn't want to be apart for long. Matt moved to Omaha in December of 2019 and Alyssa joined him 4 long months later in April.

Since then, the two have been living happily in Omaha. They have grown to know and love each other more and more. In July of 2023, Alyssa & Matt planned a trip back to Nashville, the city where it all began.

On July 1st, 2023, Matt proposed at The Parthenon in Nashville's Centennial Park. After first saying "what is happening?" Alyssa ecstatically said "Yes!"
