The first time David saw Alyssa, she was walking into the police department with a big smile and it caught him off guard. He nudged a co-worker and asked who she was. “That’s Alyssa,” his co-worker said. “She’s new. Don’t embarrass yourself.” David filed her name away, not quite knowing if or when he would ever meet her. Fast forward a few years: David had leveled up in life and was now an instructor at rifle school. Life was good but was about to get better —Alyssa walked into the class. David tried to play it cool which meant he spoke to Alyssa exactly&nbsp;zero times&nbsp;the first day unless it was through awkward nods and mumbled commands like, “Uh, yeah, target… now… go.” As the course went on, David tried to keep things professional. Unfortunately when he was around Alyssa, he stumbled through his words more often than he’d like to admit. It wasn’t until he overheard Alyssa talking about cars that he found his opening. David and Alyssa both owned Corvettes. They spoke everyday after class and David wanted to ask her out but kept overthinking it. What if she laughed? What if she didn’t feel the same? Luckily, Alyssa was not here for shy nonsense. Alyssa made the first move and invited David to a rooftop movie theater. From their first date in 2023 to now, they are incredibly thankful the Lord allowed their separate paths to become one. That’s how the shy rifle instructor and the Corvette-loving student ended up on a date—him wondering how he got so lucky, and her wondering how long it would take before he’d admit she was the better shot&nbsp;and&nbsp;driver.
