Q + A

Can we bring kids?

Absolutely! We just ask that you supervise your children. There are hazards in nature and accidents can happen so quickly. Make sure your littles are respectful of nature as well.

Will food be provided?

We will only provide food for the celebration. we will have hors d'oeuvre's during cocktail hour and will have dinner with lots of goodies for the wedding night. There will be several communal coffee pots in the kitchen with all the fixin’s Otherwise, please come prepared for feeding you and yours for the camping experience. There are two huge grills in the kitchen area, and smaller grills in the grassy communal area. The campsites are equipped with fire rings and picnic tables. There is also a propane oven in the main kitchen. There are not any refrigerators so please make sure you bring your own coolers.

Leave no trace

We will be out in nature. Please stay on designated paths. There are many trash and recycling receptacles and they are emptied twice daily. Lets leave the grove better than we found it.

Parking

There should be plenty of parking, with ample space down in the lower campgrounds with overflow parking on the grass for the day of the ceremony if you aren't camping. There will be signs and people to help guide you. The upper campground sites are reserved for family.

Swimming and Safety

The river has some shallow portions and some deep portions. The current can often flow very swiftly. Please be safe. Supervise your children and don't venture beyond what your own swimming abilities can handle.

Is there power?

No. we will have a generator to power the kitchen and lights, however if you require power, please bring your own generator for your camp.

What if we forgot something?

Murrish Market is the closest market which is about 10 minutes west of the venue in Hydesville.

Some of the hazards to watch out for

Poison oak is lurking! if you aren't familiar with what it looks like, please ask one of us and we can show you. Falling limbs! There is a section of the campground that is partitioned off with caution tape. This is due to a tree that is losing huge, dangerous branches. STAY OUT OF THIS AREA! Keep your kids and pets out of this area! The river can be dangerous and drownings do occur in our area so be safe!! HWY 36 is nearby. People drive too fast on this road. Don't let pets, children or drunk friends venture near the highway

What if we don't want to camp?

Look under the travel tab. We have listed 3 hotels that are nearby in Fortuna which is about a 15-20 minute drive west from the venue.

What's the weather like?

Unpredictable. We recommend keeping an eye on the forecast just to stay in the know, however, Humboldt can be a bit moody! While we hope for sunshine, be prepared for anything. It also gets cold at night even on the sunniest of days so bring a jacket.

We have never camped before, what do we need?

Here is a great resource we found online, a lot of this stuff is optional but should give you a good idea of what you should consider. https://www.switchbacktravel.com/info/camping-checklist
