While You're Here

While You're Here

As visitors to this beautiful forest, please consider the ways in which you can be a good steward and guest to the land.

Here are some rules for camping and being outdoors at this location:

NO glass allowed

It is likely that glass will break and hurt someone (including the critters we share the forest with). Leave it at home, and bring cans, tetra packs, and boxed beverages instead.

Fires in provided fire pits only

Forest fires are a real concern and, as such, fires are only allowed in Ness Creek appointed fire pits. All fires must have 5 gallons of emergency water nearby.

Water Access

For those of us camping, or staying in trailers or cabins on site, and for those who are staying off-site during your time on site:

Potable (drinkable) water is available in the main building areas, from the spigot at the picnic table shelter at the clearing in front of the "Mainstage," as well as at the "Backstage" area. Bring your own jug to fill up. Remember that supply is limited so please be conscious of your consumption and do not leave the tap running.

First Aid and Other Assistance

Assistance is available at the "NessQuarters" building, next to the Straw Bale House behind the back entrance of the Jack Millikin Centre.

Secure your grub

Keep your campsite clear of bear attractants for the safety of campers and wildlife alike. Food, toiletries, etc. must be stored in your car, hard-topped trailer, or cabin.

Pack it in, pack it out

Help us minimize our environmental footprint and preserve our boreal forest home. If you brought it with you, take it when you go. This includes gum wrappers, rope, bottle caps, and cigarette butts.

Mind your butts

Cigarette butts are a fire hazard. Please dispose of them properly in an airtight container, such as a Ness Creek pocket ashtray or "butt pack." We will do our best to collect these to distribute to the smokers coming who don't have any already.

Zero tolerance of fireworks

Fireworks are a severe wildfire hazard. Anyone found in possession of fireworks will be asked to leave the event.

Garbage/Recycling/Compost

There are dumpster sized bins for both garbage and recycling in the Backstage area. Compost for For your produced waste, please consider composting first, then recycling what cannot be composted, then throwing away (garbage) what cannot be recycled.

RespectfulNess

We ask that you do your part in preserving the magic of Ness by being mindful of others, interact respectfully with one another and the boreal forest we love dearly.
