What was meant to be just a single date turned into a lifelong love story.

Alyssa and Armando’s paths had crossed many times before their first date, though their encounters had always been brief. It wasn’t until a few years later that they worked together as colleagues—but even then, nothing more came of it. It took a playful push from Alyssa’s friends to convince her to send a simple message that would set everything in motion. (Thank you, Isabel and Ashley!)

On December 20, 2020, Alyssa and Armando went on their first date to see the Christmas lights in Hidalgo. He was a quiet man, she was the talkative one, yet the chemistry between them was undeniable. They talked nonstop throughout the night, and although it was a magical evening, Alyssa swore it would remain just that—ONE date.

But as fate would have it, that “one date” was just the beginning.

Fast forward to July 10, 2021: after attending a thrilling Astros vs. New York Yankees game in Houston, Alyssa and Armando officially became a couple. That day, both the Yankees and Armando had something to celebrate.

From there, their relationship blossomed quickly, nurtured by their deep faith and the many blessings God had bestowed upon them. They shared countless laughs, learned from each other’s experiences, and above all, their love continued to grow—a love unlike any other, one worth cherishing and fighting for every single day.

On December 23, 2023, Armando planned a special surprise. He pretended they were just taking graduation pictures and planned a casual late-night Christmas photo session. But when the moment was right, he asked Alyssa to marry him, making it the best day of their lives.

As they look ahead to their future, Alyssa and Armando are filled with gratitude for everyone who has supported them—who has prayed for them, loved them, and encouraged them along the way. They are excited to continue their journey together, grounded in faith and united in love, as they celebrate this new chapter with all who join them.
