Alyssa's Version
I met Ben the first day of welcome week at Union. I thought that he was cute & funny but was determined not to get into a relationship so early into college. However, we quickly became part of the same friend group & began to spend every day together. Slowly, these group hang outs turned into one-on-one nighttime walks around campus, study sessions in the circle of life, and car rides around Jackson. Two months after meeting him, I invited him to a date party. When said date party got rained out, Ben was quick to propose a counter-offer: a date! That one date quickly turned into a series of dates, and now, here we are 3 years later, planning our wedding. I never had to go through a day of college without knowing Benjamin & now I never have to go a day of my life without spending it with him!!!! He is hard-working, loyal, funny, selfless, kind, generous, creative, gracious, and a million other good things. Benjamin is truly my best friend - his patient, constant love for me reflects Christ so clearly. There is never a moment when I’m not thanking God for His faithfulness in bringing him to me; he is, without a doubt, one of the greatest testaments of the Lord’s goodness in my life.
Ben's Version
The first time I ever met Alyssa was during welcome week. It was during Covid, so we all had masks on, but I still remember always noticing how beautiful her eyes were! We got to know each other more throughout that week. After welcome week was over, I wanted to continue to talk with Alyssa and get to know her better. I ended up injuring my leg during practice one night and was able to use that injury to convince her to go on walks with me to “help my leg get better.” On those walks I was able to get to know Alyssa far better and to get a glimpse of the godly woman she was. She is loyal, hardworking, and determined. She brings so much love and laughter in, not just my life, but the lives of all those around her. I have been blessed enough to be able to spend over three years with Alyssa, and I am proud to now call her my fiancé! After our first date, I knew that God had something very special in plan for us, and I am excited to grow in, not just our relationship with each other, but also our relationship with Christ. I love you, Alyssa Jasper - I cannot wait to call you my wife!
