Q + A

Is there an open bar?

There will be an open bar until 7pm, which will be followed by a cash bar until the end of the night.

Should I bring a gift to the wedding?

While you are welcome to bring a gift or cash, don't feel forced to give anything. The couple is more excited just to see you!

I want to attend the wedding, but I'm not sure it will work with my schedule. Should I RSVP now or wait?

You may RSVP up until June 15th.

I'm traveling from far away, where should I stay?

The closest place to stay to the reception is in Albert Lea, MN. There is a youth baseball tournament that same weekend so a block of rooms could not be booked. Please contact the bride or groom for hotel recommendations.

I have a dietary restriction, can I eat at your wedding?

Please fill out the dietary restriction section under the RSVP tab to let us know how best fulfill your needs! Dairy-free and gluten-free options will definitely be available, but the RSVP's must be filled out accurately so that we are able to plan effectivley.

If you have any other specific questions, feel free to reach out to Alyssa, Josiah, or their families to ask!

Suppose X is a random variable in a discrete uniform distribution between 1 and 10. Y is the number of distinct values after n samples of X. How many samples need to be taken to have a 50% chance of seeing all possible values?

This is the question that Josiah asked Alyssa during winter break of the 2022-2023 school year (described in the "Our Story" section of the website), but her brain had shut off for a few weeks so she never attempted it. The answer is that once you have 27 samples, you have greater than a 50% chance of seeing all of them.
