Are the ceremony and reception at the same place?
Yes! The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all at the Botanical Conservatory.
What should I wear?
The dress code for our wedding is cocktail attire.
We want you to dress in a way that represents who you are!
However, our lives are full of color since we met each other, and our wedding will reflect that. We would love for you to dress in your favorite summer color and stay away from black, if possible. No jeans, please!
We also kindly ask that you reserve white for the bride on her special day.
What time should I arrive?
Our ceremony will start promptly at 5:00 pm. The botanical conservatory is located in downtown Fort Wayne, so we highly encourage you to give yourself extra time to navigate the parking garage and our event space. All of our guests are welcome to come to the botanical conservatory on the day of our wedding at no charge! They are open from 10 am to 5 pm. Just let them know you are part of our crew. Make sure to check out the amazing butterfly exhibit they will have set up in the main garden! The butterfly tent will not be operational during our event, so we highly encourage you to see it before our event starts. You will still be able to observe the butterflies from outside the tent during our wedding.
Will I have to pay for parking?
All guests should park in the Civic Center Parking Garage, located across the street from the Hilton Hotel on Calhoun Street. If you bring your parking ticket with you to the front desk of our venue, they will validate the parking for you. It is important to note that if you park in any other lot besides the Civic Center Parking Garage, you will have to pay for your own parking.
Am I allowed to bring a guest?
If your guest name is listed on your invitation and when you RSVP, then yes! We do have limited space available but we have done our best to be accommodating of everyone. If you did not see a plus one when you RSVP and would like one, just reach out to the bride or groom! If you do not want to utilize your plus one invite, please reflect that in your RSVP. Thanks for your understanding!
Will there be children?
Our goal is for our celebration to be kid-friendly! We love children just as much as you do and would be honored for them to join us on our big day! Your invitation and RVSP should reflect everyone, including children, that we will welcome to our wedding. Our venue includes a fairly large area that encompasses three gardens and several outdoor spaces. The entire place is sealed by a fence and the only way out is through the doors you came in. Feel free to relax and enjoy yourself while knowing your kids are safe and (somewhere) in the building!
How long should I plan to stay?
We know that some of you are making a big trip to spend our wedding day with us and we would love to spend as much time with you as possible! After dinner, there will be a couple hours in which different festivities will be going on. If you take after Alyssa, you will spend the evening tearing up the dance floor! If dancing is not your thing, you are welcome to enjoy the different yard games and table games that we will provide.
Is there a hotel nearby?
Because our venue is located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, there are many different hotel options nearby! We have reserved rooms at two different hotels nearby for your convenience. We want everyone to get home and to their hotels safe and sound. That is why both hotels are within a block of our venue! Check the "Accommodations" page for more information on booking.
What will be the food selection?
We are using Shigs n Pit and Mad Anthony Catering for our wedding. Hors d’ouerves during cocktail hour will include cocktail smokies, caprese skewers, bacon wrapped jalapeño bites, tortilla pinwheels, and a fresh fruit and berry display. Dinner will be a buffet consisting of their famous 16 hour hour pulled pork, Hawaiian style chicken and rice, their well-known Mac and cheese, southern style green beans, and Caesar salad. Drink options will include iced tea, water, lemonade, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Starry. Dessert for the evening will be rise n roll donuts, our favorite! You might know them as “crack donuts” because they are simply that good! If you have any dietary concerns, special needs, or allergies, please reflect that in your RSVP.
Will there be alcohol?
We ask that you kindly respect our decision to do a cash bar. This means that you will have to pay for any alcoholic beverages that you would like to consume during our wedding. Our caterer kindly requests that you only use a credit card to purchase these beverages. Although it is called a cash bar, they do not actually accept cash!
