Alyssa and Rob met in a car in 2009.

They were on their way to a mutual friend's party and had been crammed into a 2-door coupe with several of Alyssa's roommates (perhaps slightly exceeding the legal body-to-seat ratio).

They fancied each other almost immediately, but because they were William and Mary students--and William and Mary students are notoriously awkward--it would take weeks of texting and a mid-afternoon to sundown conversation for them to figure that out.

Their first date was at an off-campus pizza joint, Doraldo's (home of the 18-inch pizza!), which has long-since closed. They wore their best sweatshirts and dined in style on calzones, french fries, and Dr. Pepper.

6 years, a few moves, and many calzones later, Rob packed a picnic and drove them to Arlington Ridge Park. After a feast of homemade potato salad and BLTs, beneath a waxing gibbous moon and in the shadow of the Netherlands Carillon, Rob asked Alyssa to share his life. Alyssa, having already started planning their wedding years before, cried a lot and said yes.

2 years, several careers, and many more calzones later, here we are!
