David and Alyssa met at the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Naples while they both worked there. They started with simple flirting until it grew into something more. Some liquid courage may have something to do with this while out with coworkers one night. After that night, David asked Alyssa out on a date to Tacos and Tequila. They ordered some margaritas and tacos, which for the people that know David, they know David hates tequila!

After a successful first date, David and Alyssa continued to spend time together over the next month going between Alyssa's apartment in Fort Myers and David's apartment in Naples. During Christmas time in 2019, the work Christmas party came around. Only very few people at work knew David and Alyssa had started dating so both David and Alyssa went solo. David was mostly working the party (David was the Food and Beverage Manager) but he did take the time to get a picture by the tree with Alyssa. David's only instagram post until the engagement!

After the Christmas party, a few coworkers were going out so David and Alyssa joined. In a very romantic fashion, David asked Alyssa to be his girlfriend in a 7-11 parking lot. In March of 2020, at a date at Coopers Hawk David and Alyssa told each other that they loved each other. Soon after, COVID times kicked into gear and Florida was on lock down. David was furloughed and Alyssa continued to work at the Edgewater. Due to the lockdown, David and Alyssa did not see each other for three long months. This did not stop them from talking on the phone and texting frequently.

In June 2020, David met Alyssa's parents at Jane's Cafe and the next day Alyssa moved to Naples into a one bedroom apartment with her fur baby Tank. In July 2020, Alyssa met David's parents.

In August 2020, Alyssa and David went to Wellington to visit Alyssa's family. While at a dinner at The Wood's, Alyssa told her dad that she believed that David could be the one. Although early on, she believed in their relationship and had the feeling they would end up together.

In October of 2020, David went on the hunt for a condo in Naples and Alyssa went along for the ride, believing that eventually it would be their home together. David purchased a condo in Naples in October of 2020 that needed a lot of work (full renovation). David's lease was up in November so they made the decision to have David move into Alyssa’s apartment at that time until the condo was done. Alyssa and David worked together to pick out all of the new items in the condo (from appliances to fans to floors etc).

In the meantime after months of living together, David and Alyssa decided to move into the new condo together when it was done. Finally after months of renovations and waiting, David and Alyssa moved into their new home together in June 2021.

David and Alyssa's relationship after was full of traveling and spending time with friends and family. And who could forget, taking care of Tank!! Although Tank was Alyssa's dog at the beginning, he now has two parents!

On Mother's Day Weekend in 2023, David and Alyssa went to Wellington to visit Alyssa's parents. During this time David asked both of Alyssa's parents if he could ask their daughter to marry him. They both said yes! In May 2023, David and Alyssa went to Alyssa's best friend Savannah's house in Clearwater for a supposed birthday weekend for Savannah. Savannah and David had other ideas for what they would do that weekend. Savannah planned her “birthday dinner” at Teak on the St.Pete Pier. On the way to dinner, Savannah and her fiancé Tyler stopped for pictures at a private lookout point off of the pier. When it was David and Alyssa's turn for photos, that is when David proposed and Alyssa said yes!
