The first time Amanda saw Facundo was during the GRCC TRiO campus visit to U of M in 2014 (picture above). Amanda’s initial first impressions of Facundo were that this “long-haired skater-looking guy was cute”.The first thing Facundo noticed about Amanda was her rich and contagious laughter. A laugh that will tell you without a doubt that Amanda is here! Overtime fate slowly brought them together through mutual connections formed at the one and only GRCC TRiO.&nbsp; Both Amanda’s involvement on campus and her match-maker friend Enemecia brought Facundo from the “long haired skater looking guy” to a soon-to-be boyfriend. Enemecia happened to have a child psychology class with Facundo and told Amanda about the “Shy and Sweet guy” in her class, guaranteeing that Amanda would like him. Amanda thought to herself “okay girl you are such a hopeless romantic !” Slowly but surely Facundo would come hang out at the TRiO recruitment table. Amanda would notice that he would sit awfully close to her despite being somewhat quiet at first. Shortly after, just as Enemecia had guaranteed- Amanda and Facundo became closer, spending special moments together and only deepening their relationship and interest in each other.&nbsp; As they say distance makes the heart grow fonder- At this point in their story it so happens that Facundo left for a 7-week research trip to Michigan Tech while Amanda went abroad to study in Spain.&nbsp; While they each explored new cities and countries, they still felt connected. Amanda’s other friend, Araceli, pressured Amanda to follow her gut and message Facundo. Overcome with nerves but blessed with solid friends, Araceli messaged him for Amanda on Facebook. Much to their surprise, Facundo responded seconds after the message was sent. They continued their conversation as Araceli typed what Amanda was instructing to write to Facundo (Thank you Araceli). They kept in touch throughout and made plans to see each other after they both returned to Grand Rapids. Upon their return to Grand Rapids, their first official date was seeing the fireworks for the 4th of July. Call it fate or call it divine intervention by Enemecia and Araceli, but these two are now getting married! A love born, two first-generation college students brought together by connection, experiences, and shared purposes.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Message from Amanda and Facundo:Throughout our relationship, we have been fortunate enough to have been able to travel to many different places and build amazing memories. From a cross country family trip from Michigan to California to hours long flights to Argentina. What I love most about Facundo is that he is extremely patient, smart and a hard worker. He can learn things so easily with minimal effort. While he may be quiet/ reserved with others, he makes me laugh until I can't breathe. He is my favorite person. Amanda is first and foremost strong, independent, and dependable. She is very resilient in life and holds strong when things become difficult. She approaches life in a thoughtful manner doing so much for others.&nbsp;We are excited to share this new chapter of our&nbsp;lives.We are incredibly happy that our families and friends will be united and share this special day with us!-----------------------------------------------------------------La primera vez que Amanda vio a Facundo fue durante la visita a la universidad de Michigan con el programa de GRCC TRiO en 2014 (imagen de arriba). Las primeras impresiones iniciales de Amanda sobre Facundo fueron que este “chico de cabello largo con aspecto de patinador era lindo”. Lo primero que notó Facundo sobre Amanda fue su risa contagiosa. ¡Una carcajada que te dirá sin duda que Amanda está aquí! El destino con el tiempo los unió lentamente a través de conexiones mutuas formadas en el único GRCC TRiO. Tanto la participación de Amanda en la universidad como su amiga Enemecia hicieron que Facundo pasara de ser el "chico con aspecto de patinador de pelo largo" a ser un futuro novio. Enemecia tenía una clase de psicología infantil con Facundo y le contó a Amanda sobre el "chico tímido y dulce" en su clase, garantizándole que a Amanda le gustaría. Amanda pensó para sí misma: " ¡Eres una romántica empedernida!" Lento pero seguro, Facundo vendría a pasar el rato en la mesa de reclutamiento de TRiO. Amanda notaba que él se sentaba muy cerca de ella a pesar de estar un poco callado al principio. Poco después, tal como lo había garantizado Enemecia, Amanda y Facundo se acercaron más, pasando momentos especiales juntos y profundizando su relación e interés el uno por el otro. Como dicen, la distancia hace que el corazón crezca más. En este punto de su historia, sucede que Facundo se fue a una pasantía de 7 semanas a la universidad Michigan Tech, mientras que Amanda se fue al extranjero a estudiar en España. Mientras cada uno exploraba nuevas ciudades y países, todavía se sentían conectados. La otra amiga de Amanda, Araceli, presionó a Amanda para que siguiera su instinto y le enviara un mensaje a Facundo. Superada por los nervios pero bendecida con amigos sólidos, Araceli le envió un mensaje de Amanda en Facebook. Para su sorpresa, Facundo respondió segundos después de que se envió el mensaje. Continuaron su conversación mientras Araceli escribía lo que Amanda le indicaba que le escribiera a Facundo (Gracias Araceli). Se mantuvieron en contacto todo el tiempo e hicieron planes para verse después de que ambos regresaran a Grand Rapids. A su regreso a Grand Rapids, su primera cita oficial fue ver los fuegos artificiales del 4 de julio. Llámalo destino o llámalo intervención divina de Enemecia y Araceli, ¡pero estos dos ahora se van a casar! Un amor nacido, dos estudiantes universitarios de primera generación unidos por conexión, experiencias y propósitos compartidos. Mensaje de Amanda y Facundo: A lo largo de nuestra relación, hemos tenido la suerte de poder viajar a muchos lugares diferentes y crear recuerdos increíbles. Desde un viaje familiar a campo traviesa desde Michigan a California hasta vuelos de horas de duración a Argentina.Lo que más me gusta de Facundo es que es extremadamente paciente, inteligente y muy trabajador. Puede aprender cosas tan fácilmente con un mínimo esfuerzo. Si bien puede ser callado/reservado con los demás, me hace reír hasta que no puedo respirar. Él es mi persona favorita. Amanda es ante todo fuerte, independiente y confiable. Ella es muy resistente en la vida y se mantiene fuerte cuando las cosas se ponen difíciles. Ella aborda la vida de una manera reflexiva haciendo mucho por los demás. Estamos emocionados de compartir este nuevo capítulo de nuestras vidas. ¡Estamos increíblemente felices de que nuestras familias y amigos se unan y compartan este día especial con nosotros!
