It all started on the beautiful thing we call the Internet in May 2020…. Caleb and Amanda were both seeking love using an app called Hinge. They started talking and Caleb asked Amanda out on a date. Amanda bailed on that date the day before, citing covid was making her nervous (but really, it’s because she was shifting her focus to another guy from the app). Caleb understood but then deleted her number from his contact list figuring he would never talk to her again. A week or so later, on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon Caleb got a text from a random number, “Heyy stranger….” To which he responded, “New phone who dis?” After that fateful Sunday afternoon text, Amanda and Caleb started talking every single day. They reconnected and sparks were flying. One Friday night, and with some liquid courage in the form of a few beers, Amanda got up the nerve to ask Caleb out on a date. The day they settled on was Sunday June 7, 2020, a day that will go down in history as the day that changed their lives forever! They decided that a few cold beers at Sea Bright Beach in Bridgeport sounded like a great time. They talked for hours at the beach. It was getting dark, and Amanda wanted to share more of her life with Caleb so they went on a walk around her neighborhood in Black Rock so Amanda could show Caleb the pile of wood she kept talking about. She had recently gotten into furniture building and saw a pile of beautifully cut logs that she dreamed of making a side table with one day. With the encouragement of Caleb, Amanda ran up to the pile and grabbed her favorite piece. They ran through the streets, back towards her apartment, ducking behind bushes and pretending that people were chasing them down for the grand lumber theft they had both committed. After that grand adventure, they ended up at another beach area where Amanda would hang out with a neighborhood cat (Camanda, if you know you know) and shared their first kiss. A little while later they split ways for the night but neither of them could deny that they fell in love on that day. Since then, their love has taken them all over the country, from Maine to New Mexico. Learning to love each other through all of life’s ups and downs. In Spring of 2023, Caleb knew he had to be with Amanda forever. He spoke to his mom and asked for the heirloom diamond she had been saving for this very moment and designed the perfect ring to ask Amanda to marry him. On Friday May 26, 2023, Caleb suggested Amanda and he go get breakfast at The Tasty Yolk and go sit at the beach where they had their first date. As they sat on a bench at the beach on that crisp spring morning, eating their breakfast burritos, Caleb took out a Taco Bell hot sauce packet, that he had saved for almost three years, that said the words “Marry me?” Amanda was taken back, “SHUT THE F*CK UP!” she exclaimed with tears filling her eyes, and then Caleb took out a ring and heard another “SHUT THE F*CK UP!” out of Amanda. They were both speechless and through the tears of joy she said YES!
