Kyle and Amanda met in arguably both of their favorite place on campus at Colorado Mesa University: the varsity weight room. Kyle asked Amanda to spot him on a heavy set of dumbbell bench press, and she agreed, just to see what would happen. Against all odds, Kyle completed the set without needing assistance, and promptly asked Amanda what her instagram handle was. A true modern love story.
They quickly realized how much they had in common, and as their relationship grew, they were also becoming best friends. After a whirlwind school year of being student-athletes, recovering from injuries, parties, party fouls, blending of friend groups, and the occasional need to do homework, Amanda graduated from CMU and moved to the Front Range to accept a job. Kyle went back to CMU in August of 2019, and Amanda committed to driving 250 miles back and forth every other weekend to watch Kyle play his last season of college football, under the condition that Kyle would make the drive the next semester.
Sadly, before Kyle could make good on his commitment, COVID brought the world to a halt, and Amanda moved back to Grand Junction to wait out the chaos, staying with Kyle and his roommates. After their lease ended, Kyle and Amanda decided to move in together, and began the journey of figuring out how to live together. Kyle graduated college in May of 2021, and they grew together over the next couple years, in their careers, relationship, and in themselves.
In November of 2022, Kyle took Amanda on an impromptu trip to Aspen for a weekend because she "had never been". Amanda was thrilled and dressed in her cutest heeled boots (because, well, Aspen), and was deeply confused when Kyle turned off the highway and made his way up into the mountains. "I thought we'd go do a fun little hike at the Maroon Bells," he explained. Amanda was somewhat skeptical of the feasibility of doing this hike in heeled boots, but chugged along, simply happy to be spending time with her favorite person.
They hiked along the snow packed, slippery path, eventually coming to a bridge with a stunning view, where Kyle confessed that he had "recently taken up amateur photography", and needed Amanda to stand facing away from the end of the bridge, cover her eyes, and not look. He set up the tripod he discreetly brought along, and filmed himself getting down on one knee and asking Amanda to marry him. Of course she said yes, and is overjoyed to be marrying her best friend.
We are so excited to get married on September 16th, 2024 in beautiful Colorado, and we cannot wait to share this amazing place and much anticipated special day with all of you!
