If there's anything classic and old-timey about two people meeting for the first time, it's our meet cute! With Joey's childhood friend about to marry Amanda's Syracuse University classmate, it was inevitable that some matchmaking was about to be done.

September 2018

Just days after Amanda's 25th birthday, she received a text from her friend she met at grad school, offering up a cute guy's number. Although Joey lived a few hundred miles away, it was intriguing. Amanda hesitated at first but eventually accepted. Let the Facebook stalking begin.

As they got in a regular habit of chatting over the phone, conversation flowed easily between the two. Somehow they got over the fact that they cheer for opposite football teams, and found more common ground in their love of family, food, and dogs. They laughed about being set up by mutual friends like how it happens in movies. There was the impending event of their mutual friends' wedding looming in the air, where the two would meet for the first time face to face.

Joey absolutely nailed the Best Man speech. Not a dry eye in the audience. Enter all of Amanda's friends at this wedding whooping that this guy is the real deal.

October 7th, 2018 (yes, our future wedding date too!)

Amanda & Joey officially start dating and spend the weekend exploring the Syracuse zoo, eating delicious Dinosaur BBQ, and planning the next visit as a couple.

September 2019

After a year of dating long-distance, with many trips back and forth between Rochester and Boston, they move into a tiny Boston apartment together. A big change that totally tested the compatibility of the relationship thanks to a little pandemic that shook up the entire world and made 500 square feet feel like 5.

October 2020

What's better than a shiny new-to-you apartment? A dog to fill it with. Joey and Amanda ecstatically adopted their beloved rescue dog, Meeko to make the new place feel like a home.

October 2021

Engaged!!! After a gorgeous stroll around Fresh Pond in Cambridge, Joey popped the question with the beautiful fall foliage in the background. They came back to an apartment full of close friends to surprise them with balloons and flowers galore. That ring balloon is STILL inflated to this day!

So whether it was fate or just two good friends who really wanted to start a matchmaking business on a successful note, we could not be happier to start our journey together.

Our wedding is story book themed because of the love we both share for beautifully written texts. Also, our story feels special enough to us to be written about. We're thrilled to be getting married on our five year anniversary!
