Our Wedding

It was the summer of 2021 and Amanda had just graduated from Samford and was wondering what she was going to do to workout. Her parents told her that they still had their YMCA membership from when she was younger and that they had lots of options of different fitness classes. Amanda proceeded to download the app and found a class that fit exactly what she was looking for - Body Attack. It is a sports- inspired cardio workout for building strength and stamina which combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercises for both the weekend athlete and the hard core-competitor. Exactly what she was looking for. That Saturday (6/26/21) at 9:15am she decided that she would go by herself and check out the class. She got there just in the nick of time at 9:13am and there was only one spot left, and it just happened to be in the very front left corner of the room in front of a cute boy. Amanda loved every second of the class and decided that she would build Les Mills into her regular schedule.&nbsp;

Amanda began going to more classes and kept seeing the same cute boy - and he even taught some of the classes that she was taking. They would occasionally lock eyes from a distance, but nothing was ever said. Then one day, they both got to class 10 min early and no one else was in the room. They were forced to talk. They had a quick 5 min conversation and it was enough time for Amanda to know this guy was something special. Amanda had to rush out of class because she had plans with a friend, so sadly there was no time to exchange numbers. While Amanda was at dinner she got a Facebook friend request and a DM from Benjamin Grant Peterson Deaver and Amanda’s first thought was - this MUST be spam. Alas, after doing a little more investigating she discovered that it was in fact the cute boy from the gym! He introduced himself, told her that he was sad that Amanda rushed out of the gym, and gave her his number so that she could reach out in case she ever wanted to go for a run. Coincidentally enough she was going on a run with her new running group the next day and invited him to come. He quickly accepted.&nbsp;

The next day they met at a parking deck on Howard Ave. across from Green Lemon and ran a 5k around Bayshore, Hyde Park, and all around town. Then after they went to Yard of Ale and enjoyed a beer and talked to everyone there. Time flew by and before they both knew it, it was 11pm. Ben then came up with a great idea to run back to Hyde Park and get Sprinkles Cupcakes! Then they ate their cupcakes as they walked and talked all the way back to their cars. They have talked everyday since, both became Body Attack instructors at the YMCA, ran more 5ks, and of course eaten more Sprinkles Cupcakes:) Approximately 1 year, 6 months, and 15 days later Ben proposed to Amanda at that very spot with a Sprinkles Cupcake… and the rest is history.
