Lane and Amanda first met in December 2011. Lane had just returned to Boulder, Colorado after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and Amanda was finishing up the Fall semester of her junior year at the University of Colorado. Lane was first introduced to Amanda by her good friend, Caroline, who is now married to Lane's fraternity brother, Ben Sullivan.

Their first date was on March 3rd, 2012, but some might say it was more of a fitness competition than anything else. Lane suggested a casual run up Flagstaff Road to popular lookout point at roughly 6,000 feet in elevation. This brutal test set the tone for a very spontaneous and adventurous future.

On August 23rd, 2016, Lane proposed near the top of the Lionshead Gondola after a hike up Berry Picker Trail in Vail, Colorado. Amanda and Lane were accompanied by Lane's brother, Will Faison, and his wife, Katelyn. They captured the moment beautifully and Lane and Amanda were so happy that they could share this incredible moment.
