Our Story (Thomas’s Version)

Our story begins around early September 2022. After matching on Coffee Meets Bagel (and going through a few days of the tedious awkward conversation that modern dating apps require), Tom asked Amanda out for dinner. He came home from their first date on September 16th at an Iron Hill in Chestnut Hill...figuring she wasn’t interested. But while he was playing Call of Duty later that night, he got a text from Amanda asking what he was up to. After a few more dates they made things official on September 29th, 2022!

On November 8th of that year, Amanda was in Florida while Tom went to a bar in PA. While they were texting back and forth, Amanda said those three words: “I love you.” And he said it back! He then went back to his IPA, which somehow tasted even better than before. The relationship progressed throughout 2023. They met each other’s families, and each was accepted by the other. They went to Galaxy’s Edge, at which Tom passionately explained the ins-and-outs of the Star Wars galaxy…and at which Amanda repeatedly smiled and nodded. And Tom got over his dislike of dogs to bond with Amanda’s dog Oakley.

And then came time for the proposal. Tom suggested a trip up to Lake George, NY for their 1-year anniversary. While the weather forecast initially showed sunny skies for proposal day, a storm was later projected to hit the area. By the time they left that morning, the weather forecast called for rain at the exact time Tom planned the proposal. When they got up to the Lake, however…there was no rain. Eager to complete the proposal before it started raining, Tom rushed her to the dock and got down on one knee. Today, their love shows that love can conquer anything. Even an NFL Divisional rivalry……mostly…Go Giants!

Our Story (Amanda’s Version)

Our story starts at the beginning of September, when Amanda (after deleting all of her dating apps for months because of how frustrating it was to meet a guy in the 21st century) decided to redownload Coffee Meets Bagel on her phone. Within a few days of downloading the app, Tom and her matched. Within the first week of being matched, she proceeded on her first date with Tom at Iron Hill Brewery, anxious and excited at the same time. Little did Amanda know that she would be going to a lot of Iron Hill Breweries in the tristate area in her future. The date went well but it was hard to tell exactly how it went because Tom was pretty reserved (and on his best behavior) but they continued to message on the app which led to the exchange of numbers and so on.

When Amanda invited Tom down to Florida for her sister Megan’s college graduation, to Tom it was a no-brainer - they had to go to Galaxy’s Edge. This was something Tom was very, very, excited for and over those short days, Amanda learned more about Star Wars that can last her three lifetimes. The dates continued and the puns began…and never stopped. After about 9 months of dating, Amanda started rating Tom’s puns and only laughed at the ones she thought were actually funny.

Amanda and Tom bonded over their interest in football and watched many games at his Uncle Darryl’s house. Little did Tom know that during those first few games (when the Giants were doing absolutely terribly by the way) he would be marrying a Philadelphia Eagles fan. The rivalry kept things interesting to say the least. On their one-year anniversary, Tom had a trip planned to Lake George for him and Amanda and the forecast was not on Tom’s side. When they arrived Tom quickly took Amanda to the back of the house and told her that they could unpack their stuff later. It might be the fastest Amanda had ever seen Tom move in her life. Tom took Amanda down to the dock behind the house and asked her to marry him. When she said, “Are you serious?” he responded by saying, “No, I’m joking” and the rest was history.
