Amanda and Nir met online one day in 2018. That very same evening Nir (along with his brother and flight instructor) met Amanda at The Triangle Bar in Center Moriches, NY.

Nir, who works for El Al Airlines, traveled between Israel and New York for commercial pilot flight certification instruction. During this time, they were able to see each other in both New York and Tel Aviv. After a few months of dating, Amanda and Nir could not find time in their extremely busy schedules to commit, but they were committed to friendship and remained in touch no matter how challenging that was.

After two years of friendship and meet-ups, the pandemic struck. Amanda helped Nir find an apartment in New York. After getting a few of his certifications at the end of June, Amanda and a few of her close friends convinced Nir to remain in New York for a few more days for Amanda's annual Fourth of July barbecue. As a result, Amanda and Nir began to date again for the next six months while Nir became a commercial pilot!

The night before Nir returned to Israel to attend to business matters, he proposed to Amanda by hiding the engagement ring in a new pair of shoes she was very excited about. With Nir's ring on her finger, Amanda would have no doubts that he would return as soon as possible!
