DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANES, OUR WEDDING VENUE HAS CHANGED. The new venue is The Astorian. Please use the complimentary valet (no self parking).
In the Summer of 2015 the two met as 12 year olds Victory Camp, in Alvin Tx. During staff training Caden introduced himself to Amanda, not as Caden but as “C-Breezy” Amanda obviously was SUPER attracted to that and fell in love immediately. However they stayed acquaintances and camp co-workers in different friend groups over the next couple of years until… fate brought them together when we both applied to be lifeguards in 2018, well fate and Shana Anderson assigning staff positions.
Their friendship started to grow as they spent more time together in the guard room, they actually became enemies for a day or two and as a result interim lifeguard supervisor Matthew Suarez had them both swim laps. Thankfully that time passed and they started becoming more than friends as they began to like-like one another ooOooOooo. From camp walmart-run dates to holding hands on the train tracks, the summer of 2019 seemed to be the year this iconic will-they-won’t-they finally stuck, this could be it… Until Caden’s dad Wes Owens said he needed to get a job at H-E-B and that through Caden for a loop (as it would anyone) Caden texted Amanda that he couldn’t hold a relationship, go to Junior year of highschool, play Varsity Basketball (flex), volunteer at the Church, AND date someone (totally understandable, but a text… really? Not even a phone call? No. He was a coward.)
Anyways, they both went their separate ways for the fall & winter of 2019 and spring of 2020. But a Covid-19 zoom call brought them back together. And it was in those very zoom calls for their online lifeguard training that they would message each other in the chat rooms. As the Covid restrictions got less and less restrictive they finally started to hang out again at Victory Camp where that year's theme was “ICONIC” , an iconic summer for many reasons, one major reason is that it got shut down in week two. But a friend group blossomed from that summer. A friend group that met when Amanda wasn’t working the charm out of the front desk at Advanced Skincare & massage and Caden wasn’t working his way up the corporate ladder at H-E-B.
This friend group had a particular outing that was noteworthy. A “Christmas in July” party in… August, hosted by Haylie Bragg. This party consists of cookie decorating, Yankee swapping, and flirtatious pool fighting. But this party ended with the group playing truth or dare in Haylie’s room, normally a recipe for disaster, except this recipe had a dash of hope along with teenage hormones. It was our noble hero Jonah Sanders who dared Amanda to kiss Caden (what an alley oop, like seriously, Chris Paul to Blake Griffin level lob) 17-year-old Amanda, who was terrified at this moment paralyzed by fear that Caden didn't reciprocate her feelings, 17-year-old Caden or C-Breezy, who was sending signals all night that he was cleary into her, was also terrified as he had never kissed anyone. This couple of wimps after seconds of hesitation leaned in and shared their first kiss… And the rest is HISTORY!
What would've happened if Jonah never dared? If Covid never had them come back to camp? If Shana never assigned them to life guard? If their parents never let them work over the summer?
Would they even be together? Would they find someone else? Would they have missed each other completely? Would they even be getting married on September 26th at 6pm in Houston, Texas?
I guess we’ll never know.
