Our Story

How we met

Picture of How we met

Bryce and I met the evening of June 2nd, 2012 at my sister's wedding reception. My sister Dori was marrying Kyle, who was best friends with a man named Brent Kadlec (Bryce's brother) Brent and I were both in the wedding party and at some point, Brent decided that he should set me up with his younger brother. Unbeknownst to me, he asked Kyle and Dori if that would be a good idea and they approved. He and his wife Amy came up with a plan to get us together. Brent came and asked me to dance, and when we got on the dance floor, I saw that we were dancing right next to his wife Amy. But I paid no attention to who she was dancing with. Almost the second we got on the dance floor Amy said "I want to dance with my husband now." I wasn't too excited at the idea of dancing with some random man that I didn't know. But then I looked and saw him, and saw that he was around my age and very attractive :) Suddenly I was perfectly okay with dancing with this guy I didn't know, and we ended up dancing together all evening. We went on our first date later that month.

The Proposal

Bryce knows that my absolute favorite Christmas tradition is going to Williams Tree farm and cutting down the Christmas tree. The day before we were going to the farm, he told me that he was going to make it the best trip ever. That morning, he brought me my favorite Christmas-time drink from Starbucks. On the way to the tree farm, he let me listen to Christmas music without complaint (which is usually quite the battle) I had always wanted to be proposed to there, and was hoping that it was going to happen because he'd been dropping hints about marriage in the months leading up. But when we got there, he grabbed my hand and stuck it in his pocket to keep it warm. So I figured he didn't have a ring and it wasn't going to happen that day. We went out with my parents, Dori, Kyle, Kelly, Aric, and almost all of my nieces and nephews. After all the trees were cut, Bryce began leading me away from everyone. He gave me a hug and told me that he loved me very much. He then had me close my eyes and I began to wonder if it in fact was going to happen. When I opened them again, he got down on one knee and asked "will you marry me?" Of course I said yes! And held back some tears knowing that there were going to be pictures taken. We hugged again and kissed and I finally took a good look at the ring, which he had hidden in a secret pocket on the side of his jacket. It all was so perfect! He picked the ring out himself, basing it off of a picture I sent him two years ago. He definitely made good on his promise to make that the best day I'd ever known!
