It all began when Peter transferred to teach math at Bridger Middle School in the fall of 2020 where Amanda had worked for the previous nine years. Although the two initially found that they had many things in common, like both having grown up in St. Louis and a love of all things Harry Potter, their friendship did not get off to a great start. Amanda may have yelled at Peter in a math department meeting for not finishing a team lesson plan on time, but luckily Peter did not let their story stop there. He continued to stop by Amanda's classroom during the school day to chat and build a friendship.

Peter quickly earned a reputation at Bridger as the school meteorologist, so Amanda slid into his DMs in December of 2020 to ask about a snow day prediction. Peter smoothly used this as a way to share his phone number with her, and the two began to text whenever there was a snow day possibility. Clearly this stuck in Amanda's mind, because she had a dream that Peter came over on a snow day to shovel her driveway while she made him cinnamon rolls. I guess you could say the snow days are where their friendship really began.

Fast forward to the spring of 2022. Peter was the first to see that maybe their connection could turn into more than just friendship. After 18 months of patiently trying to get Amanda to see the same thing, Amanda finally agreed to go see a movie together as friends. The movie then led to walks after school and more hang outs. When Amanda ended up quarantined with COVID in May, Peter was sweet enough to check on her each day and even brought ice cream. This was around the time that Amanda realized she had feelings for him too.

In June, Peter finally found the courage to officially ask Amanda out, and the two agreed to try it out without sharing the news with their coworkers in case things didn't last. By the end of the summer, both knew that their relationship was going to be more than something casual, so they decided to make it official at school as well!

Peter and Amanda continued to date through the rest of 2022 and 2023. They love to play board games with their families, go on long walks together, and travel to see concerts and visit friends. Some of the highlights include seeing Hamilton together, traveling to Nashville, and seeing Ed Sheeran in concert 3 times last summer!

On January 9th, 2024, a big snow storm came through Kansas City, and school was canceled. As part of her snow day tradition, Amanda was making cinnamon rolls to share with Peter before playing one of their favorite board games together. Peter asked Amanda to step out on the deck to take a picture while it was still snowing. Amanda agreed, walked outside on a path Peter had shoveled for them, and turned around to find Peter down on one knee. Peter asked Amanda to marry him, and with tears in her eyes she said yes!
