Our story
Begins with two young college kids on the first day of a hot August semester at UNC Wilmington. Amanda on her first day of sophomore year and Andrew a young and confident freshman soccer player. They both happened to have an Old World music class together. The two were seated across the classroom but Andrew didn’t let that stop him. As class came to an end, Andrew walked straight up to Amanda and asked, “Did you go to Panther Creek High School?” Amanda was caught off guard by the stranger who knew her personal history. Nonetheless, she answered the man.
The conversation continued through the courtyard as Andrew tried, and failed, to ask Amanda to coffee; and would continue to do so for the next 3 months. He never gave up until eventually, much by her surprise, she asked him to get together.
The two became fast friends and eventually dated for the next 8 years. Off and on long distance, the two spent their time traveling and hiking all over the world. They adopted a dog and eventually moved in together.
Closing in on their 7 year anniversary, Andrew had planned to propose! He was going to surprise Amanda with a trip back to the pier where they always shared breakfast in Wrightsville Beach, and then meet their parents for dinner. The morning of the big day, Amanda decided it was too gloomy and a day trip to Wilmington was out of the question. Quick on his feet, Andrew scrambled to create a new, incredible plan. He took her out exploring new parts of Raleigh, and had dinner planned at Amanda’s favorite restaurant, the Angus Barn. Known for it’s Christmas lights and gorgeous gardens, it was the perfect place to propose, even with the rain from the afternoon. Andrew proposed under the twinkling lights, in the city they had made their home in together.
I said yes! And so, here starts our journey together and we cannot wait to celebrate with our friends and family come June 5th!
