As many of you know, we met in high school. From the first time we saw each other, Caleb knew Amanda was someone he wanted to be around. While we did not date in high school, we were best friends. We shared our joys and carried each other's burdens. We passed notes in class constantly (ask Caleb how red his face was when we got caught by our favorite teacher). Everyone around us thought we were together or, at the very least, would end up together.
After graduation, we grew apart for a while. Every now and then, one would check in on the other. We both knew the other was there, but we were not as close as we were during our high school days. Amanda went off to Appalachian State and Caleb found his way into mechanic work.
Flash forward three years. We each encountered situations that caused us to ask the other for prayer. We have always known the other would pray any time we needed them to. This led to us checking in more regularly.
Once we were both back in Wilmington, we started to hang out again. In some ways, it was as if no time had passed. The only difference was that Amanda now realized she never wanted to be away from Caleb again. We technically don't have an anniversary date because we never asked each other to be "official." Our relationship melted seamlessly from friendship to partners. We are still each other's best friend. That will always be the cornerstone of our relationship.
