Matt and Amanda meet at a Mariner's game. Amanda was in Seattle on a summer trip and met Matt through mutual friends. Despite having other plans, Matt decided to go to the game instead. Obsessed with the Padres, Amanda talked Matt into wearing her Tatis jersey to lend the Padres some luck. The Padres walked that game off with a Grand Slam; and the Mariners, to their own credit, walked off with a home run. Meanwhile, the couple, unwittingly took their first picture together

Although they lived in different cities, Amanda and Matt swapped numbers and proceeded to text the equivalent of modern day love letters daily for three months. Realizing that one of them had to take a big leap of faith, Amanda finally asked Matt if she could come visit. Even though he was going to be in a boot from ankle surgery, Matt encouraged her to come anyways, and then surprised Amanda with a Seaplane Date.

Matt returned the visit with a trip to San Diego. The weekend was full of laughter, boats, boots (Matt was still in a boot!) and Amanda having to carry Matt through the sand. This weekend was the first of many of swapped flights over the course of the next year...

Amanda came up to Whistler, Canada to join Matt - and their mutual friends who introduced them - on the first of what has become an annual December ski trip.

Another San Diego visit by Matt. Matt attended his first Padres game with Amanda (after hearing about the Padres non-stop for a year). The Padres won 12-1, and Matt became an official fan of the San Diego Padres.

Matt helps Amanda move from San Diego to Seattle. Matt had never been to California before meeting Amanda and thus had seen nothing aside from San Diego. The couple stopped at: Yosemite, San Francisco, and Crater Lake (to name a few). The couple caught an unbeatable Crater Lake sunrise.

Matt proposes by creating a Christmas itinerary with a second secret page. Knowing Amanda's intense love of Christmas, Matt created the perfect Christmas evening: A Christmas band and lights, dinner, White Christmas - the play, and finally, an engagement.
