We met the ol' fashioned way. On a dating app. But before we could even schedule our first date we ran into each other at Palatine’s Octoberfest.

On our first “official” date Brett and I planned to meet at my apartment and then get lunch together. Unfortunately I was working from home and a work call went over by TWO HOURS!? So, when Brett showed up I was in my pajamas still, no makeup, and was on a work call. Great first impression. Once the call finally ended I kept talking and completely forgot about our plans to go get lunch and I exclaimed in the middle of conversation "I FORGOT TO FEED YOU" haha! So we headed to a place close by for lunch and on our way out my new neighbor stopped us to welcome “us” to the place and said “it’s so great seeing a young couple move in here”. Which we awkwardly laughed about, but I was secretly hoping it was a sign that Brett and I would work out

Every year Brett's family has an annual vacation where we're all able to truly spend quality time together.

For my first Puckaway trip there was a live band playing at a bar close to the cabin's pool area. So me (being the dancer that I am) dragged Brett over there to dance. The band begun playing “You Look Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton and as cheesy as it sounds it felt like it was just me and Brett in that moment. After the song ended a lady pulled me aside and said “you and your husband are so sweet together”. I teased Brett about the comment and I thought this was another sign that a stranger saw into our future

To say I was shocked was an understatement. While on a sunset boat ride Raina (Maid of Honor), Sarah (Bridesmaid) and I kept giving Brett sass about proposing.

It started with Sarah taking a picture of Brett & me and joked about adding the picture to Instagram with the caption "Where's the ring?".

Then, someone went up to ask the musician on the boat for a shout out for their grandpa's birthday... which then turned into a solid 10 minutes of people saying it's their birthday, or anniversary, or whatever they were celebrating. It went on way too long, so Raina turned to Brett and said "You need to one up everyone and propose right now". I laughed and thought it was a hilarious joke, but Brett seemed unamused to say the least.

Lastly, I asked Brett to take a picture of just the girls on the trip. He was casting a shadow on us, so he tried to get out of the way and got down on his knee. I joked "Look girls, he's finally on his knee for me". Which again, he wasn't amused by haha!

Not to long after that he asked for us to take a picture together and said "remember when you joked about me getting on my knee. Well it's happening" and that's when I properly blacked out in shock haha, but at some point (through all the happy tears) I said YES!
