Amanda and Matt first met in the Kansas City airport to attend a wedding in January of 2021. After spending the entire weekend together which included coffee, breakfast, drinks and burgers at the hotel bar, their flights for Sunday got cancelled due to a snow storm. This prompted everyone to round off the weekend with a Chiefs playoff game. Matt kindly offered to get Amanda a soft pretzel (she had been talking about wanting one all day) to which she immediately declined because it was “too nice”.

This response from Amanda thankfully didn’t scare Matt off, as they quickly reconnected for a first date in Manhattan. After 6 hours where the pair closed down an Italian restaurant in Chelsea, they realized there had been several occasions over the years where they had just missed meeting one another.

Nearly two years, 7 plane rides, 3 ski trips, and many many hours in the car traveling between Long Island, Manhattan, Somerville and LBI, Matt proposed at a local orchard where Amanda immediately said “yes”!
