A long, long time ago Amanda and Shayne met while on vacation in Dominican where they discovered they both worked at Conestoga Mall and lived about ten minutes away from each other.

They continued to spend time together with their friends when back in Canada. Shayne asked Amanda out on a date and took her to St Jacob's where they went on a walk along the water and then to Stone Crock for dinner. Shayne said the walk went quicker than he thought it would because he hadn't met someone who could walk as fast as him.

Shayne got to meet Amanda's parents and spend the day with them and Emily during Amanda's first Laurier graduation.

Amanda lived in Toronto for a year during her post grad degree and at the time Shayne worked nights Sunday to Thursday. He would often visit her on weekends where they would explore Toronto (walking of course). They would pick a new street each time and walk towards downtown and often check out a Jays Game.

Shayne's family grew up visiting Frankenmuth after his parent's found the little town after their car broke down nearby. Shayne was excited to share his favourite spots with Amanda and they continue to visit Frankenmuth for delicious chicken dinners, mini golf, swimming, outlet mall shopping, and of course...the photo ops!

A favourite vacation was going to Florida with Shayne's family. Shayne and Amanda drove (well Shayne drove...ask them about the detour they took during Amanda's 2 hour stint of driving). They enjoyed big waves, late night pool swims, ice cream, and lots of putt putt. On the way home Amanda and Shayne stopped in Myrtle Beach. The hotel had a lazy river so Amanda & Shayne were enjoying this while a hurricane was on it's way through so the staff were putting away the lawn chairs and furniture. It was getting pretty windy so they thought maybe they should get out but figured they had time for one more round of mini golf...

They have enjoyed some unique dates around KW such as Steel Rails. The day of the event you receive a text with a meeting location where buses take you to a second secret location for food, drinks, and interactive art activities. Then you get on a train where each car has a different theme (DJ and dance party, classical musicians, arts and crafts etc.) and then end up at a final location for a concert.

They took a trip to Midland and enjoyed exploring the way they know best: rainy walks.

Finally back to the ball park but with masks and social distancing. Turns out it was kind of nice having the extra space and the energy in the stadium was electric. They also finally got to enjoy some better seats since they only had the 100 level open!

During the pandemic Amanda and Shayne began to golf. It started as a way to be able to hangout with friends safely but then they really started to enjoy the game. This became their favourite activity to do together. If you know Amanda and Shayne you know they are competitive. And while they do love to compete on the golf course they are also each other's loudest cheerleaders.

They revisited the walk they took through St Jacob's on their first date. Another rainy walk that ended in some big smiles and happy tears when Shayne proposed and Amanda said yes!

Somehow Amanda & Shayne convinced 17 other people to join them on a trip to Dominican. It was a pre-wedding celebration that included spending 8 hours a day lounging in the pool, doing water aerobics, enjoying large group dinners, and disco nights.

Amanda and Shayne share a love for the Blue Jays and got to attend this year's Home Opener. They look forward to attending many more games this summer.
