As with many things about both of us, our story is rather nontraditional. We first became friends on Twitter in 2021 and started chatting more in the summer of 2022.


We met briefly in person at a Pride Without Police event when Amanda was giving him some clothes she didnt want anymore. After that, we started talking more frequently, and Amanda asked Sage to house-sit her many pets as they knew Sage also loved reptiles. (Yes, she did let them house-sit for her after only meeting them in person briefly.)


From there, we realized we had a lot in common and decided we should hang out in person more, instead of just meeting in passing and texting a lot.


We went to a movie together in August 2022 and the chemistry was immediate, although it did take both of us a bit of time to figure out why were both so nervous around the other. (Sage taking longer to figure out that Amanda had started flirting a lot.)


At the time, Amanda was in a long-term relationship that was open, and Sage and Amanda started dating officially on September 3rd, 2022.


From there, things moved quickly! We joke that we both acted like Mormons and like the typical U-haul dykes. In March 2023, Amanda moved to SLC to spend more time with Sage instead of commuting nearly every day from Orem. We decided that Sage should move in as his lease was nearly up.


We realized around this time that we both wanted to get married mostly as a way to express our commitment on a personal level, despite never caring much about it before. How the night fall, and love gets the best of us!


In April 2023, we moved in together and merged our pet families. We have 12 pets! Lito the dog. Starbucks and Dunkin, the ferrets. Momo the bearded dragon. Zuko the crested gecko. Azula the gargoyle gecko. Cleo the African fat-tail gecko. Nadja the cave gecko. Pabu and Lazlo, the leopard geckos. Clementine the corn snake. And Hela the jumping spider!


Sage and Amanda enjoy exploring SLC together, including the aquarium, coffee shops, Target, museums, and the aviary. They love to learn, spend all day talking and watching television, and check out local craft and art fairs.
