HOW WE FIRST MET

Tim and Amanda met shortly after Tim moved to Tom's River in South Jersey (he insists there is no Central Jersey, which Amanda contends is not true). After talking online for a few weeks, they finally went for sushi on their first date. Neither of them wanted the date to end, so they went for a walk on the Seaside Boardwalk (after Amanda ignored all her best instincts and got into a stranger’s car). Then, since they did not want the weekend to end (after Tim missed Amanda's hint of asking what he was doing the next day), they went out again the next day, and two more times that week. Besides meeting Amanda, the highlight of the week for Tim was bribing his way into her dog Daphne’s heart with a toy the first time he met her. Once Daphne approved of Tim, Amanda knew there was something to this relationship.

HOW WE STARTED DATING

Tim and Amanda have shared all aspects of their lives, including Tim giving her Covid the day he asked her out. Ever since, they have insisted that “in sickness and in health” does not just start at the altar. Although they have spent their time navigating more than their fair share of hospitalizations and illnesses, they have shared many more fun things together. Highlights include: yelling at their fantasy football teams; watching Gilmore Girls at least 5 times; celebrating milestones for their friends and families, including 8 weddings, retirement parties, award dinners, and milestone birthdays; vacationing; and dog parenting duties. They love cooking dinner together, going out for sushi, dancing in the living room with or without music playing, and making each other laugh.

HOW WE GOT ENGAGED

Tim and Amanda’s engagement came together when they experienced a day they had always envisioned. Amanda always imagined celebrating their love surrounded by their closest family, so Tim organized a party (with them help of the moms!) to celebrate the next chapter of their lives together. The proposal was planned for the last Saturday in April 2023. In an (unsuccessful) attempt to hide the surprise, he told Amanda at the beginning of the year that they should have date nights on the last Saturday of every month. After three successful dates, it was finally time for the most important date! At the spot where they had first held hands, Tim asked Amanda if she would hold his hand forever. Thankfully, she said yes, or else you would not be reading this!
