One day I was at work and I received a Facebook message from Travis. He introduced himself and said he had 2 cats he needed to rehome. (Very cute pickup line as I was working at the vet clinic at the time).
He also sent me some videos of him and his son Ryder singing/dancing to a country song.
My heart literally melted. I showed my girlfriend and said “I’m going to marry this man”. (I had yet to officially meet this handsome, single father of one) but if you know me. I have a thing for a guy with a good voice, country music, and I adore kids.
Something inside me gravitated towards his energy without even meeting him.
We officially met when I was out celebrating my girlfriend’s 30th birthday, and minutes prior to meeting him I had spilled an entire container of Pepto Bismol on myself), but don’t worry after a couple minutes of meeting my girlfriends he accidentally spilled his drink on my best friend’s birthday dress- talk about first impressions 🤣.
I could tell we had instant chemistry. I don’t think either of us wanted to say goodbye that evening.
Travis was definitely more introverted then myself. He enjoyed “old movies” (as I call them lol) and he had no problems sitting home and quoting every line to me, well me, I was a little more extroverted (to say the least).
I wasn’t used to the calmness and simplicity he brought to my life. After I realized this man is what I actually needed in a partner there was no turning back (for either of us).
I grew up in a big family. I have always wanted a family. I couldn’t be more excited that he had a son and (if you didn’t know) Travis is a bigggg momma’s boy and the fact family was so important to him was definitely a core value we shared.
He introduced me to his son Ryder and my love grew even bigger. The bond the pair has is something I cannot even put into words.
Then there were 3. Daddy, MeMa, and Ry-Ry. This is the feeling I had longed for my entire life.
I’ll insert a quote from my mom here.
“Amanda, when you find your person it will happen fast, don’t worry”.
…and by April 17th, 2023, not quite 6 months in he proposed to me. “When you know, you know”. Travis and I were both so deserving of this love and we had finally found it.
What stands out the most in our relationship besides the love we have for each other is “Partnership or Teamwork”.
We are the best lovers and more importantly partners. We both put in the effort, work, and dedication to make sure we prioritize our relationship and our (growing) family.
Oh yes, can’t forget baby Blakeleigh Lynn entered this world on leap day 2024. We are so happy and so complete.
I feel I can speak for the both of us when I say we just feel really blessed right now in our lives and the support we have had from our friends and family with our relationship and our growing family has been nothing short of amazing.
Soo-The final step is to change my last name and we couldn’t be more excited to share this day with each and everyone one of you as we become husband and wife.
