More than three years ago, Mandy and I were typical college students going about their business, trying to navigate going to school during a pandemic. With strict limitations on how big events Eastern student organizations could put on, the Newman Center had to adapt and rethink it's first-semester retreat.

Instead of being held in a typical indoor setting, we made our way to Camp Ondessonk in southern Illinois where we could "social distance" while still spending time together, and with the Lord.

Little did we know that a conversation by the campfire would lead to an afternoon of hiking, and then a night under the stars. It was there that we met, but not where our story began.

If you are here, it means you are part of that story. From those who babysat us as toddlers, to friends we grew to love while attending EIU, we cannot imagine spending our wedding day with anyone else.
