Amarit and Jessie met while attending the University of Maryland, Baltimore County while they were both pursuing degrees in Mathematics. One day in the math lounge, Amarit asked Jessie to be a part of a study group for their Complex Analysis class. After chatting in April 2019 after one of these study groups the two became friends.

Jessie introduced Amarit to her roommate and close friend Fatima and the three became close friends often going out to eat or playing super smash bros with Amarit's roommates.

Years later, in January of 2022, Fatima asked Jessie and Amarit to come to India for her wedding. While there, Amarit took care of Jessie while she was sick and the two began video calling just about everyday until Jessie moved back from New York to Maryland after graduating from RPI. The two began dating a month later in August of 2022 and got engaged a year and a half later in February of 2024.
