We attended Construction Careers Academy and were volunteering at the Home and Garden Show hosted at the San Antonio Alamodome as representatives on April 17, 2021. Even though this was our Senior year, this was the first time we ever engaged with each other. In the last months of our school year, we learned more about each other’s faith, beliefs, and families and with graduation around the corner, we grew into a stronger relationship.

Michael: The day I met Amaya I knew she would one day be my wife. Strong willed, a bit anti-social, and extremely beautiful. This amazing woman did not let me make the first move though, she had to go and find my information to message me first. We started hanging out in and out of school. I decided to ask her to our COVID version of Prom, where I got her to dance and bounce in a bouncy house. We finally graduated High School. Through her work as well as mine, I got to learn about the real world and her love for animals. We worked on a ranch for a while where I saw her fall in love with some of the most beautiful horses. I wanted to propose on the ranch with the horses she loved from the beginning. I asked Amayas’ parents for permission for her hand in marriage and received their blessings. On September 14, 2024, I decided to stop and take some pictures like we usually do at the ranch with the horses, but this time I was on one knee with a little black box and a ring in it; it took her completely by surprise.

Amaya: From the moment I met him, I knew he was someone special that I wanted in my life. I could see all the good in him in the ways he engaged with myself and others. I admired how he was easy- going and fun to be around. He helps me to shed my shyness. We have our own versions of going through thick and thin; I'd say we have grown stronger together and especially towards God as a couple. He is my knight in shining armor, and can also be the thorn in my side, but most importantly, he's the most loyal and loving person I've ever met. The day he proposed to me was one of the greatest moments of my life, even when I had no clue that my life would start to change on September 14, 2024. Here's to new beginnings together as we will now become one. We hope to see y'all there for our big celebration!
