Our Wedding

Where to start… the beginning, I guess.&nbsp;&nbsp;June 2019, Amber’s sister, Caitlin, decides she wants to join a roller derby team.&nbsp;&nbsp;And she needs me to join because us Burns’s don’t do social things without a buddy.&nbsp;&nbsp;So, we show up, no skates, no gear, no skating ability.&nbsp;&nbsp;Just the willingness to fall a lot and get back up… there’s a life lesson for you.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Our class of fresh meat was real fresh.. except for one stand out in a hockey helmet who clearly knows how to skate already… Nicole.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pretty much immediately we were hooked on derby, not on each other yet, that comes much later.&nbsp;&nbsp;We become the Greatest Generation of Fresh Meat that Free State has ever seen! Yes, we did have to start that rumor, but by the time we made Xmas cards and gave out candy at the holiday party, it wasn’t just us saying it!&nbsp;&nbsp;Meanwhile, Nicole was working hard to be a Fire Fighter (spoiler alert, she will become the Rookie Fire Fighter of the year in 2022!), and she needed a former mathlete (that’s right ladies!) to tutor her for the exams.&nbsp;&nbsp;We spent a lot of night studying and making keto desserts (Which is why Nicole can’t eat peanut butter to this day).&nbsp;&nbsp;Flash forward to Valentines Day 2020… we both went out as single ladies… there are pics on Instagram to prove it, plus I made us shirts with my Cricut.&nbsp;&nbsp;And, if you look at the comments, you can see Cait saying “Look at those two peas in a pod!”&nbsp;&nbsp;We consider Valentines Day to be our anniversary because that’s the day we realized we were more than just friends. A few days later we played in Battle of the Freshies, our first bout! Chick-N-Strip ( yes people did want to pay a dollar to see that chicken strip ) and Chemical Burns battled our lil Freshie hearts out but only one came away a winner, Strip won Best Blocker!&nbsp;&nbsp;She sustained a toe injury during the game which required some first aide, and dare I say, the first sparks between us started to fly as I performed surgery on her toe.&nbsp;&nbsp;Then, just as we were getting ready to play in our first real game, COVID hit.&nbsp;&nbsp;We had to be really careful because Nicole was starting the academy and couldn’t get COVID or she may have gotten kicked out of the academy.&nbsp;&nbsp;That gave us plenty of time to decide that we wanted to be together forever.&nbsp;&nbsp;I was awarded the Lesbian for Life Award which I now carry around in my wallet!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We also decided that we were just TOO happy and it was TOO easy so we got Nugget two sisters, Copper and Riley.&nbsp;&nbsp;And now, our house is never quiet, rarely clean, but ALWAYS filled with love

The after party will be at the hotel bar from 10 pm to 1 am.
