This page contains all of our favorite stops throughout Grand Rapids. To get a list of Trip Advisor-type recommendations for our city, just go to Trip Advisor or Google it. Of course, you should go to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, but that's not our favorite way to spend time here.
It's broken up into three parts: 1) places to eat that you'll love, 2) where to get a good drink before the ceremony, and 3) activities you should try to fit in while you're in town.
Hope you have a ton of fun in Beer City, USA!
This is a great Grand Rapids dinner spot for folks who like steak and good cocktails. The wait can sometimes be overwhelming, but it is worth it for a great meal! We love trying an adventurous appetizer.
This is a west side classic. Although it's closed on Sundays these burgers (and their breakfast) will fill you up! If you want a pop be sure to choose the "combo" over the "platter."
Looking for a great beer on Bridge Street? Try Küsterer Brauhaus! It's an offshoot of Cedar Springs Brewing Company. Their beers are deliciously traditional and they are located a block away from Mike's Douglas and Gold rental in 2018-2019.
This chicken is delicious! Avoid a problematic chicken meal and get yourself some delicious, spicy, moist chicken. We love the waffle fries and the mac and cheese.
This place is so expensive but we gotta give a shout-out to the fine dining scene in GR. Liz Michalski works here and they will provide you with unparallel service! Literally, your water will never be empty but you have to ask for tap water. Great steaks, and wonderful appetizers. Try a manhattan with the wagyu!
Two blocks from the Embassy Suites, this low-key bar is a great place to grab a cheap, hardy drink. Enjoy views of former industry, and chill vibes.
One block north of Embassy Suites, this local brewery is great for some snacks and unique beers. This brewery supplies local beer varieties to the annual Pulaski Days festival. It was cofounded by state representative Rachel Hood.
A 15 minute walk from the venue (this area is not built for walking FYI), but this location serves up great beers, phenomenal brunch, and you'll enjoy a cozy feel as you belly up to the bar.
A 15 minutes walk (again, this area is not built for walking) to the Revel Center, Creston serves locally brewed beer and Saugatuck Brewing Company favorites.
Over 100 years old, visit Fulton Street Market on Saturday morning. Stop by Stillwind Farms for the best fresh vegetables west Michigan has to offer. Additionally, grab some honey, maple syrup, and hard cider to take back home!
This is the best view of Lake Michigan in this area. The hike is intense but worth the effort. You'll need an Ottawa County Park pass. The state pass will not cover it! It is about a 45-minute drive from the city center, but a great way to spend Friday, Saturday morning, or if you have some time to kill on Sunday (you're up for a hike the day after a wedding? Okay girl boss go off!).
This is Amber's favorite park in the city. Go for a hike here! Look out for deer!
Need a souvenir or gift? Be a Rebel, and shop local! This is our favorite store to get Grand Rapids merch or to find cool gifts for your favorite folks.
Amber used to work at this accredited Zoo! Check out the amazing petting zoo! Zoos are ethical, because what nature is even left for the animals? We really recommend this for folks to do on Friday if you come into town super early, or on Sunday. It could be tough to fit everything in on Saturday but if you're efficient with your time and don't take too long getting ready, Saturday could work.
We love getting BBQ beef sticks, or German hot dogs from this local butcher! They have some delicious food and make a unique keepsake to remember your time in Grand Rapids.
