Having both experienced the crazy world of online dating, Alec and Amber were both planning to remain single for awhile. Alec was working in his role as Senior Medical Device Engineer at Cirtec and Amber as a Trauma Nurse at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

For those who don't know, Amber's Boston Terrier Cooper has extensive veterinary needs and was accepted as a patient at a specialty clinic in Minnetonka in June 2022. This was Amber's first big trip to the Twin Cities and she wasn't looking forward to the chaos of rush hour traffic.

A couple days later Amber received a message from Alec on Match regarding her love of cars. They continued to make small talk, learning about each other, and finding out they had many commonalities. That same week, Alec and Amber had their first date at The Lone Spur in Minnetonka...so back to the Cities she went.

After walking the Boardwalk in Wayzata and even grabbing dinner before Amber headed home to Rochester, the two of them were already planning a second date. The second date turned into a third, and soon the once dreaded drive to the Cities became routine as Amber and Alec spent the next year making the trip almost every weekend.

Once they knew neither of them were going anywhere, Cooper came along. Though it didn't happen quickly, Cooper and Alec got to know each other and the three of them began picturing a life together in The Cities.

In April 2023, Amber and Alec signed a lease and were making arrangements for their move in June. Alec was busy packing boxes while Amber was determined to land a position as a Nurse on the Burn Unit at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

By July Amber and Cooper had relocated to Minnetonka, Amber started her new career as a Burn Nurse, and the three of them were finally able to call the same place home.

On September 16, 2023 Alec and Amber went to his parents' new home on Cross Lake. Alec took Amber on a pontoon ride to check out the lake for the first time. In the middle of Cross Lake, Alec got down on one knee and asked Amber to be his wife. Amber obviously said YES!

The rest is yet to come as we continue building our future together. Here's to becoming Mr. & Mrs. Nielsen on September 28, 2024!
