How We Met:
For those of you who don't know, Nate and I met in a gym. On the same island that we ended up buying our first home on. Nate and I had mutual friends at the gym, but had never met each other. He wanted to ask me out 6-7 months before we actually had our first date, but I was ... let's just say (not available). On the night we connected, it was January 2019 and Nate had not showered, shaved, nor brushed his teeth and had a funny feeling (the gym girl) was going to show up that night... Indeed I did HAHA I decided to awkwardly interrupt his workout, making him jump, put my hand out and said "Hi, I'm that girl you wanted to ask out last year. My names Amber." The stuttering response was the cutest thing I've ever seen and I will never forget it.... all he could get out was "Uh... Uh... you're beautiful" We both laughed. He composed himself and introduced himself and I told him if he was still interested he could get my number at the end of my workout. Obviously he did and we have been together ever since. <3
Saying "I Love You":
Now it's my turn to be embarrassed... There always has to be someone who says "I love you" first. Well we had only been dating maybe 2 months, maybe less, when I drunkenly blurted it out tipsy over a spicy margarita in a very crowded restaurant ... loud enough for everyone to hear... HE. DID. NOT. SAY. IT. BACK. For weeks! Oh yes, the humiliation. What's worse, I admit, I was one of those women who ended up harassing him after our trip to the Little Grand Canyon that Spring, in the car, on the way back to my parents house, until he admitted his undying love for me. Yup. You can judge.
MEMORABLE TRIPS:
Nate and I have been very lucky with all of the trips we have taken over the years.
We had only been together for 6 months when we were able to go to France together. Visiting, Paris, the most beautiful city in the world was like a fairytale.
Our 1 year anniversary was spent at the same Bed & Breakfast my parents honeymooned at back in the 80's.
When Nate turned the big 30 I surprised him with a trip to Charleston, which surprisingly, is still my favorite trip we ever took to this day.
Flash forward two trips to Mexico and multiple camping trips including the one where we got engaged on top of Mount Mitchell at 7000 feet!
Engagement:
A little background to the night before our engagement... What some people do not know is that our first night camping on the mountain a horrible storm hit with 55 mph winds, 29 degree weather, and a mountain of fog that dripped into our tent all night. Needless to say, when Nate proposed, we had had zero sleep and had not had a hot meal due to not being able to start a fire. Great story to tell the future kids. In regards to the engagement itself, if you're invited to this wedding, then you have seen our video on social media so I won't go into details.
The Little Things:
There are always many things that enables people to make connections, fall in love, and realize you want to spend all of your time with another human being.
-Our love of books and graphic novels.
-Nate's kindness and acceptance to my cats even though he had never had a cat in his life and didn't even know if he liked them. (Now he's the best cat dad ever!)
-Our obsession with anime, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and anything fantasy.
-Laughing together. Our sense of humor has always coincided.
-Our desire to be outside in nature.
-FOOD! Being with someone who can match your ability to constantly snack and never have leftovers when you go out to eat is so sexy... did I mention we watch every cooking show known to man?
-The fact that we are both introverts, but can be extroverted when necessary.
-The importance of family: We are both very close to our families and they mean so much to us. We are both besties with our parents and are so lucky to have two sets of adults who are so in love to guide us in our own marriage.
US NOW:
Nate and I bought a home in 2023 and are planning on staying in Savannah, Georgia for the foreseeable future. We hope to start a family following the wedding so all of your prayers and good energies would be appreciated.
