What will the weather be like?

Being mid-September in Canada, it is impossible to predict the weather… however, given the trend of the last few years, September has been fairly warm with temperatures in the mid to high 20°s. We are hoping and praying for warm and dry weather!!

The celebrations on Friday will mostly take place indoors. On Saturday, it is our hope to have the wedding ceremony outside, so please dress accordingly! Following the ceremony, the reception will take place indoors.

What food will be served and what if I have dietary restrictions?

On Friday you will be served South Asian meals (yes, meals plural! Breakfast and lunch!) at the Gurdwara. To respect religious traditions, this will be vegetarian food only.

On Saturday, to include both of our cultures, you will be served both European and South Asian dishes - buffet style. You can have as much or as little of both options!

If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know your restrictions at the time you RSVP.

Am I able to bring a plus one?

Due to space constraints at our venue, we are regrettably unable to extend invitations for additional plus ones. We have included the number of seats we have allotted for your family/party on our RSVP page.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating with you!

Can I bring kids to the wedding?

Yes! Children above the age of 4 have been included as a number on your invite and a seat has been reserved for them. When you RSVP, please ensure you are indicating whether or not you will be bringing your children.

We do ask that children remain in their seats during the ceremony/reception program.

What time should we arrive?

On Friday, please arrive at the venue no earlier than 9am. The pre ceremony events will begin at 9:30, with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 11am. We will be trying our best to stick to the timeline so please arrive on time.

On Saturday, please arrive at the venue no earlier than 4pm and no later than 4:25pm. We are on a very strict timeline on this date and will be starting promptly at 4:30.

Please respect the scheduled time of the wedding events.

What is the dress code for the Sikh Ceremony (Friday)?

Conservative, comfortable and classy!

It is mandatory for guests to cover their head when visiting the Gurdwara. There will be head covers provided at the front entrance.

Please do not wear red, maroon or any red adjacent!

Men:

Kurta or classic suit (blazer, dress shirt, dress pants and a tie).

Women:

Please dress conservatively, ensuring your body and legs are covered. You may wear whatever you like that falls within these guidelines. Keep in mind that you want to be respectful to a sacred space, while still feeling comfortable and fancy enough to attend a wedding ceremony.

It is also mandatory to take off your shoes upon entering, so wear socks and/or nylons if you don't like to go barefoot!

Examples: Maxi skirt/dress, dress pants and blouse

As mentioned above, it is mandatory to cover your head while inside the Gurdwara, so please bring a thin scarf/shawl/pashmina to cover your head with.

Tip: Bring bobby pins to attach the shawl to your head. This will ensure it doesn't fall off over the course of the morning!

If you decide you want to join in with the East Indian traditional clothing and sport a salwar kameez or a palazzo pant suit, here are a few suggested websites for purchasing an outfit:

Just a reminder that lenghas are no longer permitted in the Gurdwara.

You may also contact one of the bridesmaids to provide guidance with your outfit if you are really stuck!

What is the dress code for the Civil Ceremony and Reception (Saturday)?

Dress to impress in formal attire!

For the ceremony, please wear Western attire.

For the reception, Indian or Western attire is more than welcome - the choice is yours!

Please do not wear any white or white adjacent (including no cream, ivory or light beige).

If wearing a formal gown, please do not wear black, however, black lehengas are okay!

On Saturday, what happens between the ceremony and reception?

Cocktail hour (and a half) on the Terrace!! Cocktails and refreshments will be served in the Conservatory, along with South Asian hors d'oeuvres.

We hope that during this time our guests will enjoy mingling with other guests or possibly get competitive with a game of corn hole. Guests can also walk through the gardens at the venue or take a stroll down by Innis Lake.

We ask that guests do not leave the premises and stay at the venue during this time.

Where do we park on Saturday?

There is free parking directly off of Innis Lake Road, at the front of the Embassy building. When arriving, please go to the right side of the building to the main entrance area.

The ceremony will be taking place at the Terrace Gazebo, directly behind the The Embassy (main building).

What time is the reception scheduled to end?

The reception is scheduled to end at 1am.

Will there be a shuttle to and/or from the hotel?

There will not be a shuttle to and from the hotel but there are Ubers and taxis in the area.

Please don’t drink and drive!
