She was thrilled to share that news with me because my entire family had loved him from the moment they first met him. We reconnected as if we’d never been apart, bought a house, had Kason, got married... and then divorced.

Neither of us wanted the divorce, but we were both stubborn at different times and immature in our own ways. We didn’t realize what we were throwing away. Despite the divorce, we remained committed to being full-time parents to our two beautiful children, which kept us close over the next eight years. We spoke every day, saw each other nearly every day, and rebuilt our friendship until we found ourselves at another crossroads—do we try again, or do we walk away for good? We chose to try, just like we did when we were 21.

And now, here we are, preparing to say “I do” one last time. Jason has been the glue that held us together when I’d lost all hope in our love. Through the tough times, he stayed strong, determined, and unwavering. No matter what we went through, it didn’t matter to him—he stole my heart a long time ago, and now, I’m ready to take his last name, for good.
