As individuals, working in a school system was a natural choice for both Amber and Kyle. Amber couldn’t imagine her life without summers off, and Kyle had a passion for youth mentorship. Falling in love at first sight on June 23, 2017, while both working at a summer school program was also a natural choice; Kyle saw the new girl eating lunch with the students and didn’t hesitate to approach her. Following this initial meeting, Amber knew there was something here and proceeded to trace the origins of their love from date to date: 11 days after meeting, they shared their first kiss under 4th of July fireworks, and a few months later they became “official.”

Days turned into months, and months turned into years. By 2018, Amber and Kyle decided to move in together with one of Amber’s coworkers. There were some growing pains –– Kyle couldn’t choose a side of the bed, and Amber monopolized the closet –– but living together and sharing their lives proved to be exactly what they needed to grow their relationship.

2019 proved to be more difficult. Amber broke her wrist and elbow and tragedy struck Kyle’s family when his father suddenly passed away. As trying as these times were, Kyle and Amber both had their chance to be supportive for their partner and learned how to be there for each other time and time again. Kyle drove Amber to all of her doctors appointments, started helping with cooking, and even learned how to put her hair into a ponytail. Amber helped with funeral arrangements and moved into Kyle’s family home with him to help him and his family grieve and heal.

More change arrived in 2020 when they moved into a new Laurel home, just as the pandemic hit. Although inherently different, the global circumstances served as another test for the strength and dedication of their commitment to one another, and only brought Kyle and Amber closer together. Beyond watching shows and playing games, many of these days were summer nights spent outdoors with friends and family at a fire pit, where Kyle and Amber somehow never got tired of each other. Sometimes, they miss getting to spend ALL of their time together.

After seven years of happiness, Kyle finally popped the question intimately at home and asked Amber to marry him. She was over the moon with happiness; she knew they were ready to continue growing together after nurturing a love through unimaginable loss, lockdowns, and uncertainty. Beyond the tribulations, Amber and Kyle have enjoyed a relationship full of adventure, laughter, romance and friendship, spanning destinations like the Outer Banks, Denver, Busch Gardens, Charlotte, and Tennessee. They completed high ropes courses, rode roller coasters, and even climbed mountains.

Together, they grew a beautiful and dedicated community of mutual friends and loved ones, all of whom are reading this story now and have been inextricable parts of their love story in so many ways.

Kyle and Amber have been through thick and thin together and can’t imagine a life without the other. Much more happens between two people after falling in love at first sight, and both Amber and Kyle have cherished and grown from all of it, bringing them exactly what they needed in the form of true partnership. They can’t wait to take their next steps as life partners and are so thankful that their loved ones can join them in celebrating their commitment to forever.
