Here's where it all began! During this time, my roommate Summer had been seeing this guy who had a great group of friends, and on April 7th, 2022 I (Amelia) received a direct message from one of those friends. Royce direct messaged me on instagram, asking me to come to a pool party, and after a lot of convincing from Summer, I decided to attend. At the pool party, I met a handsome, upperclassman guy wearing black ray ban club master sunglasses. Although we did not have much time to talk, I was definitely extremely interested. In the car ride home from the pool party, Amelia and Summer were joking about their future lives as finance bro wives in New England… except in hindsight, I guess I wasn’t joking…

After Amelia left the party, I (Ryan) texted Amelia. I suggested dinner, but I guess I had left a pretty good impression on her because she invited me to her dorm room to watch a movie. I (Amelia) tried to put on Penguins of Madagascar, but Ryan quickly switched it to something "better", the Tiger Woods Documentary. After finishing the movie Ryan and I talked for hours getting to know one another. That night, we shared our first kiss together.

Spring semester at Baylor was coming to an end, but luckily Ryan and I were able to go on our first official date together at DiCampli’s in Waco, TX on April 30, 2022. When we had both gotten home for the summer, I was happy to find out that Ryan only lived a few hours away from me! Ryan came to visit me on my 19th birthday in Massachusetts, flowers in hand. Ryan was able to meet a ton of my family, and everyone loved him! Just two days later, Ryan and I made things official and started dating May 23, 2022.

Later on in the Summer, it was time for me to go visit Ryan in Connecticut! I was so… incredibly… nervous… which was not like me at all when meeting parents, but the second I met Mr. and Mrs. Loring I knew I had nothing to worry about! I absolutely loved them and Mrs. Loring reminded me a lot of my mom, sweet, loving, and super easy going. Ryan and I got to go to the Travelers golf tournament, and even went to New York City for a Yankees game! (Side note, I also hard launched Ryan on instagram this trip).

This was the day I told Ryan I love him, and he said it back! I wrote the date I told Ryan I loved him in my notes app. At the time, I don’t know if I was thinking I would need to know the exact date so I could put it into “Our Story” on The Knot’s website, but God knew it was an important date:) The picture we chose to include here is from a really fun night. Ryan and I drove to the drive-in theatre in Wellfleet, MA. After the movie, I noticed on my maps app that we weren’t too far from one of my favorite beaches, Marconi! We drove over there and noticed there was a fire on the beach. We sat down by the fire, but not too long after, a wave came along and put the fire out, oh, and also took my keys and phone with it… Luckily, the waves didn’t drag my phone and keys in too far and I was able to grab them pretty quickly. We made our way back to my car and I tried to open my key, it didn’t budge, there was sand stuck in it. It was a funny moment to look back on because it was one of the first times we saw one another in a “stressful” situation, “stranded” at a beach on the cape (did I mention I also had homework due at midnight). I look back on that night and realized that not only did I love Ryan, but I was definitely IN love with Ryan.

I (Ryan) knew from the start that Amelia loved the idea of an oval shaped diamond on a yellow gold band, so I wanted to make sure I found something that felt both timeless and uniquely her. I looked at different options, and as soon as I saw this one I knew it was the ring. It had everything: an elegant oval diamond, diamonds along the band, and even a hidden halo that added the perfect touch of detail. The moment I saw it I did not have to look any further. I knew this was the one she was meant to have. Next was the proposal location. I was a little stressed about where to do it because it was going to be Fourth of July weekend. My parents drove to a place in Madison CT to check it out while I was in Dallas. We decided that the spot was perfect. (This photo was taken the day of our engagement, but we decided to put the date around the time the Loring's went to check out the spot)

Well! Here we are today, engaged and wedding planning! Ironically, while driving to Madison, Amelia's parents realized that they too had gotten engaged on July 3rd! Over the years we’ve gotten to watch one another walk across the stage to graduate at the Ferrell Center, go on trips and cruises with Ryan’s family, spend the annual Berube 4th of July parties competing in the cornhole tournament, Thanksgivings, Birthdays, and lotttttts of Baylor, NHL, NFL, and MLB games together. Growing together in our faith has been something that is so beautiful to reflect on, and being able to learn about Christ’s desires for Marriage is something we are so ready to dig deeper into.
