Amelia & Jeffrey

Our Story

Jeffrey and Amelia first met at Hylton High School, where they both attended and tied for Valedictorian. After several years apart, Jeffrey attending Harvard University and Amelia traveling the world as a circus performer, they reconnected over several “trash-cans” at Bungalow Ale House in Woodbridge, VA. After completion of her Doctorate, Amelia decided it was time to reach out to Jeffrey again and catch up. Jeffrey was busy with his studies in Archaeology, discovering the worlds first T-Rex-Cat Hybrid, but decided to give the relationship a shot. Several martinis later, here we are…

Kidding. Let’s be serious now.

Jeffrey and Amelia did meet at Hylton High School. Neither of them had the guts to admit they had crushes on each other, so graduation came and went and they went on with their lives. In the years following they continued to hang out on occasion, meeting for dinner and drinks with friends or attending concerts at Jiffy Lube Live. Amelia invited Jeffrey to Kings Dominion once with the intention being a double date. Jeffrey did not pick up on that clue. A couple of years went by and they hadn’t seen each other since.

One beautiful day, Jeffrey changed his profile picture on Facebook. Amelia thought to herself, “Wow he’s still around, huh?” and decided to reach out to catch up. They met at their now favorite bar, The Tap Room, where they couldn’t ignore the connection. After several dates and two baseball games, they made the relationship official. Things continued to bloom from there.

Several months and conversations later, it was clear that this was it. Jeffrey decided he would propose. One morning he got home from work, told Amelia to get up and get dressed and that they were going on an adventure. They drove one hour to Skyline Drive, a beautiful scenic route here in Virginia. Jeffrey drove anxiously up the mountain, the ring in his center console, waiting for the perfect spot to pop the question. As they reached one scenic overview, Jeffrey turned to Amelia and asked if she’d like to take a short hike. Amelia quickly responded, “Not really. It’s cold and I don’t have the right shoes.” And that’s how she ruined the first proposal attempt.

Jeffrey, being the absolute gentleman he is, laughed it off and they continued about their day. Roughly one month later they went again to their favorite hang-out spot, The Tap Room, where they had their first date. The time came to head home for the evening and something just clicked. While sitting in the car trying to figure out what in the world Jeffrey was stalling for, Amelia got the surprise of her life. He opened her door, said “Come here” and walked her over by the water. Jeffrey then got down on one knee and finally popped the question. There was no ruining this one. It was absolutely perfect and fitting for this couple.

And here we are, at this day planning the wedding of a lifetime. We can’t wait to celebrate with all our friends and family. Thank you for being a part of our journey and offering the overwhelming love and support you all have. See you October 5, 2024!!
