We've pulled together answers to some common questions we're getting below. If you have any other questions, feel free to send us an email (josieadamwedding@gmail.com).
When should I RSVP by?
Ideally ASAP but definitely no later than April 1, 2023
What about COVID?
We get it - COVID has created an ever-changing landscape to navigate when it comes to travel and large gatherings. We've got some more specific information over on our COVID-19 page.
Also, if your plans change, we understand (and we swear we won't be mad!). Our only ask is to let us know ASAP so we can shuffle things accordingly.
Is there a dress code?
Wear what makes you feel awesome but we recommend cocktail attire. Weather permitting the ceremony will be outside and on grass (think flats or wedges for footwear). The weather can be a bit unpredictable so take that into consideration as well.
Do I have to wear a kilt?
Only if you want to! Kilts are considered formal dress for men in Scotland. Typically they use a tartan pattern of their family clan, but there are options even if you have no Scottish heritage. For more information on tartans and kilts for weddings check out these sites:

You can even rent a kilt if you fancy wearing one! https://www.hiddenedinburgh.net/business-directory/kilt-hire/
What's the deal with this castle?
Winton Castle is steeped in Scottish and English history. The original part of the castle was built by the Setons in 1150, burnt down by Henry VIII in the 16th century (as a way to "woo" Mary Queen of Scots) and requisitioned by Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745. For a full accounting of this this historic estate check out https://www.wintoncastle.co.uk/winton-estate/winton-history/
What if I can't make it to Scotland?
Not a problem! We understand it's not the easiest place to get to. We'll also be having a celebration in DC to celebrate life as newlyweds. More details will be available in 2023.
Can I bring a date?
Unfortunately, space is extremely limited at our venue. However, you can bring a date when we party in DC!
Are kids welcome?
We love your kids, we really do. However, we're not having any kids at the ceremony and reception except those in the wedding party. If your children are traveling with you let us know and we can help arrange childcare for the Saturday.
What if I'm bringing my kids to Scotland?
We love the idea of turning our wedding into an excuse for a family vacation! There are a lot of fun and family-friendly activities in the area. Let us know if you plan to bring your kids so we can arrange for childcare during the ceremony and reception. (Let's be honest, a kid party is probably more fun anyway).
What about transportation?
We're going to have a bus take guests staying in Edinburgh to and from the wedding venue on Saturday. Depending on the shuttle route, we may be able to also pick up guests staying in the country. Send us an email if you're not planning on staying in one of the locations we've organized and we will see what we can do!
Are you registered? Where?
We are! While your presence is more than enough, if you feel so inclined to give please head over to our registry page.
