Kinney and I met when he was 8 years old. I would play "Who Let the Dogs Out" at Michael's Dawg's football games, and there he was. Little did I know he would be my future husband.
So if you don't already know, Kinney and I have had a long "relationship" for some time. It all started when he would text me during class in high school - circa 2005. This was NOT something that was common at the time as texting had just recently become a "thing", but he wouldn't leave me alone! We would hangout after school, and we even got called out over the intercom during class for letting students without licenses drive others' cars-whoops. We really enjoyed each other's company, and became great friends. We would frequent karaoke at Coaches Corner, lay on the driveway looking at the stars, talk about aliens in boats, and hangout at basketball games.
After some time it got to the point where he would call me at night. Michael would be in the room next door sending me instant messages (over AIM) saying, "You're talking to Kinney. I know you are. I can hear you." Leah would capture my happiness in photos when we spoke on the phone, and he always kept me laughing. As we became closer friends (circa 2007) dad tried to make it end because of our age difference, but like my Dove chocolates always said, "Age is nothing but a number". We didn't really talk for about a year or two, but occasionally he would give me a call. Through it all we still remained distant friends. If you ask Haley or Kirsten, they would tell you that I developed an innocent CRUSH. They say you always want what you can't have (so thanks dad).
In 2009-2010 I kept bumping into him at Justin's parties. We picked back up with that same solid friendship that we had for so long, years before. His honesty and composure always made me feel safe, and it was great having someone I knew I could always trust.
2011, and here he comes again. He was always there for me before, and now he was on the prowl. After a few months of heavy talking and getting to know each other (again), we had our first big date (and our first kiss) at the SMA Ball on November 12, 2011. On November 18, 2011 we decided to make our relationship official, and a week later we adopted Tank (shout out to Roxi for being so patient)! It would be safe to say that we had a feeling this "thing" would last!
We made it through the Statesboro years, graduating from GA TECH, the A&P program, our first big jobs, and buying a house. Then, exactly 5 years later at the SMA Ball on November 12, 2016, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. What a sweetie! Now, here we are! We will be getting married on our 6th year anniversary, and WE CANNOT WAIT!
