A Love Meant to Be

Amina and Jorge’s love story began long before they officially met. Introduced by mutual friends, the spark between them was instant—but fate had already laid the groundwork. One day, Amina came across a photo of Jorge and was immediately intrigued. She asked her friend to set them up, not knowing that Jorge had already seen photos of her a year earlier. He had heard about her, admired her from afar, and patiently waited for the right, organic moment to finally meet.

That moment came when Amina was 19 and Jorge was 21. From the start, they were drawn to each other—not just by attraction, but by something deeper. They began hanging out regularly, spending hours talking, laughing, and cooking. They built their relationship on a foundation of friendship, learning each other’s quirks, rhythms, and dreams. They quickly became each other's best friend, safe space, and favorite person.

They bonded over their shared love of art, music, films, and food. Jorge, with his Dominican and Puerto Rican roots, and Amina, with her Liberian and Puerto Rican heritage, found not only common ground but a deep celebration of culture and creativity in one another.

Jorge knew he was falling in love the day Amina cooked for him and lovingly babysat his cat, Kasper, while he was away backpacking in the forest. It was in those quiet, tender moments that he saw the kind of love he realized he needed. On April 28th, 2019, he asked her to be his girlfriend, and their journey truly began.

Since then, they’ve grown together through every chapter of life. Through triumphs in their careers—Amina in dance, Jorge in film editing—and through the challenges, especially Amina’s brave battle with cancer. As a young couple they faced challenges most people may never come across. And yet, Jorge remained committed, traveling back and forth between New York City and D.C. to be with her during chemotherapy, embodying the depth and devotion of true love.

Amina and Jorge have built a life together, filled with creativity, laughter, and unconditional support—with their dog $noopy always close by. What started as mutual attraction and friendship blossomed into a love grounded in trust, respect, and joy.

And when Jorge proposed inside a 700-year-old cathedral in London, it felt like something out of a movie—a timeless, sacred moment that only confirmed what they already knew: their love was forever.

In April 2026, on the seventh anniversary of their story, Amina and Jorge will say “I do”—a celebration of a love that was destined, nurtured, and continues to be beautifully lived.
