Ethan and Amy were introduced by mutual friends during their senior year in the fall of 2020 at The University of Iowa. The pair lived in the same apartment building so it was easy to visit each other and hangout with friends. They enjoyed going ice skating, attending trivia nights, hitting the ski slopes and took a trip to Nashville together with their friends. Ethan graduated with a Masters in Accounting and received his certification as a CPA. Amy graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. Ethan and Amy will always have such fond memories of being students together in Iowa City.
After graduating in May 2021, Ethan moved to Broomfield, Colorado for a job opportunity as a finance rotational analyst. Meanwhile, Amy accepted a position as an elementary school teacher in the Chicago suburbs but used the summer break to spend quality time with Ethan despite the distance. During Ethan's time in Colorado, Amy made several trips to visit him. They made the most of their time in the beautiful state by camping in Rocky Mountain National Park and skiing in Breckenridge. This period brought them closer and strengthened their relationship.
Ethan and Amy continued to keep up the long-distance relationship for almost two years before Ethan accepted a new position with Kraft Heinz in Chicago. Amy started her M.Ed. in STEM Education and accepted a new job teaching 5th grade in River Forest which was closer to home. The couple enjoyed life together in the suburbs and decided to kick off the year by joining the 2023 Chicago Marathon. Now, as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, they look forward to building their future together and celebrating their love with family and friends.
Ethan knew there could be no better place to propose to Amy than on a romantic getaway during her spring break. Ethan planned the entire trip to Costa Rica, and on their first evening, they arrived early for dinner near the beach. A photographer approached them, explaining she was with the restaurant. She led the couple to the beach where Ethan got down on one knee and proposed. They celebrated their engagement for the rest of the trip, enjoying activities like snorkeling in the Pacific Ocean, hiking in Liberia, taking mud baths, observing hot springs, and exploring the country via zip lining. On the final day, they relaxed with massages and participated in a turtle hatching experience.
In March 2024, Ethan and Amy moved to their new apartment in River North, Chicago. During this same month, they became an aunt and uncle to their nephew, Samson Eli. As the school year started wrapping up, Amy completed her Masters in STEM Education. The couple continued to play intramural volleyball with their team at North Ave. beach and attended many of their friends' weddings during the summer. They are now eagerly anticipating their own wedding and can't wait for the big day!
