August and Amy met each other through the app, Hinge. August was surprised to see a picture on Amy's profile of herself with friends on the seminary campus. They talked about their love of Jesus, Dove chocolate (which tastes waaaaay better than their soap), and music! August asked Amy to get dinner with him before he went home for winter break. After winter break, they went on more dates and August asked Amy to be his girlfriend. Shortly after, they took an impromptu road trip to visit his family in Michigan. Spending time in the car was a great bonding experience. One evening that spring, August accidentally used the sign-language “I love you" when saying goodbye. It was kind of awkward! However, it led to a great conversation and both ended the next date saying, “I love you!” August and Amy love to take outdoor walks, play pickleball, watch movies, and try new crafts and games together.
When Gus proposed to Amy, he had already purchased the ring and talked to her parents months in advance. She knew he would propose but not exactly when or how. The day after Thanksgiving, Gus went with Amy’s family to cut down a Christmas tree. At the Christmas tree farm, they walked a few yards away through the trees and he proposed! Amy started to scream and jump and forgot to say, “yes.” He reminded her to answer the question! Amy's friend, Arianna, popped out from behind the trees to take some lovely pictures of the day.
This year Gus will be vicaring in Rice Lake, WI while Amy finishes her student teaching. After the wedding, Amy will move to join him in Rice Lake. Gus and Amy are looking forward to their wedding and marriage. They feel so blessed and are excited to see where God leads them!
