Amy and Mike first met in college at UND back in 2014 through their mutual friend Justin. They stayed friends throughout college, going to Mike's family cabin, playing rugby, and hanging out.

After learning how to swing dance with some other college friends, Amy and Mike started to realize they liked each other as more than just friends. Mike asked Amy to be his girlfriend at a barn dance on August 12, 2016.

During their first year of dating, Amy was teaching in Minnetonka and Mike was finishing up his last year in college. After graduating, Mike stayed up in Grand Forks for work, so they continued to do long distance. They would visit each other on the weekends and go on a trip or two together each year.

After 4 years of long distance, Amy moved up to Moorhead to be closer to Mike. They saw each other more often, only being an hour apart instead of 5. However, they knew if they were going to make this work that they would need to be in the same city.

In 2021, they built the house that they still currently live in on the south end of Grand Forks. Amy did not have a job in East Grand Forks her first year of living there, so she commuted between Grand Forks and Moorhead. However, she ended up getting a teaching job the following year and the two have been together in the same city ever since.

Fast forward to August 19, 2024 at the end of a hike to Boom Lake in Banff National Park. This is where Mike finally asked Amy to marry him. After 8 years, Amy of course said yes! Now they are both excited to celebrate their love with all of their family and friends this June!
