Over five years ago, our story began at Washington State University. We were teammates first—spending long afternoons at practice, early mornings in the weight room, and countless hours cheering each other on. Somewhere between the sprints, lifts, throws, and post-practice laughs, friendship turned into something more.

Our favorite “dates” back then were simple: hiking around the Palouse, grabbing Dairy Queen Blizzards after a long day, watching movies together, and spending time down at the track training on the weekends. We shared a love for competition and spent countless hours working together at a sport we cherish so much. Those small, easy moments became the heart of our relationship.

After graduation, life took us in different directions for a while. John moved to Missoula to start his coaching career, while Amy stayed in Pullman to finish her master’s degree. We spent a year in a long-distance relationship, making the drive to see each other nearly every weekend. Those long drives and quick visits weren’t always easy, but they made our time together even more special and deepened the love we share today.

Now, we’re both living in Missoula and loving every bit of this new chapter together. Our weekends are filled with paddle boarding on the crystal clear lakes, camping at Glacier National Park, hiking new trails, running into bears and exploring the world around us — grateful for how far we’ve come and excited for all the adventures still ahead.

We’re so excited to be getting married and to join our lives — and our families — together, from Kentucky to Oregon. Though we grew up thousands of miles apart, life had a beautiful way of bringing us together, and we can’t wait to celebrate the start of forever surrounded by the people we love most.
